Is graffiti completely banned now?

Hi! Lately I’ve noticed that Wayspots with graffiti are disappearing in my city (and elsewhere). Yet they’re not blacked out and have been around for a long time (even updated). Why are long-standing Wayspots (some over 10 years old) being removed for dubious reasons? Is graffiti now completely banned?

Hi,
A reminder of the clarification

If it is considered vandalism / Graffiti it gets removed.
Also the location can often be on the outer wall of a home (SFPRP) and so gets removed.

Have you some examp,es you are concerned about?

Here’s an example.

This is graffiti advertising a cafe in a nearby shopping center. It’s been around for a long time and is located on the premises of a shopping center. Moreover, the graffiti was recently updated.

Unfortunately, I can’t get any documents confirming whether the graffiti is legal or not. But since it has been located on the territory of the shopping center for a very long time and is being restored, I believe it is legal.

This is one I would accept in review if it can be tied to the cafe. I’m guessing, but it’s possible there were wayspots with less substantial street art which were correctly removed and other wayspots got caught up in this.

Murals are definitely eligible. High-quality graffiti can be eligible, but it’s always a case-by-case basis.

I would appeal the removal of the specific wayspots which are definitely eligible. You could post pictures on this forum if you are unsure.

I would argue this is a temporal object because this is a container for a trailer.

Containers can be used long-term especially for fast food kiosks

I’ve seen plenty of containers with murals on them, some going round all sides. Often, containers are put somewhere for permanent use. Sometimes they just end up there, but no-one is ever going to remove them, so they get spruced up to become a positive feature.

The context always matters

This isn’t the actual kiosk advertised. It’s some kind of household container. It’s been there for over five years (I don’t know the exact time, maybe it has existed longer).

The situation is strange, because at least 3 graffiti have disappeared in the last six months (both long-standing and recently added to the game).

Should I appeal for the reinstatement of such Wayspots if I believe there was no basis for their removal?

Yes, I’d do that
