Is this an upgrade worth it?

Is this worth an upgrade? An information sign about a sculpture in the local sculpture garden

Hello,

Does the sculpture already have a Wayspot? If so, this could be seen as a duplicate, being the title is for the sculpture and doesn’t include anything noting it’s an info sign for the sculpture. It’s in voting, so the title can’t be edited.

No, it’s not a wayspot

I always wait until after something has been in queue for a bit before applying an upgrade. If the ML (machine learning ai) model is going to reject it, it usually does around 20-24 hours after submitting. Then I wait a bit more. And if it is taking longer than I like to get a decision, I use an upgrade.

If you are asking if this will be accepted if you upgrade it, I can’t tell you that.

Okay, thank you for your respond!

Just checking. If it does get approved, you may want to take a photo of the sculpture itself and later submit. I still think it has a good chance of being approved as I do like unique art.

How I do upgrades is I think if the upgrade review area is more likely to approve or reject, or if it would be better to be seen just by my local review area. My last 2 nominations were a local fitness center and a shopping center. I upgraded the fitness center, as I had a good feeling it would be approved by the upgrade reviewers, and it was. The shopping center was rejected by my local community, even though there are several with Wayspots in my area already, so I did have to appeal that one and get it approved.

I’d also keep timeframes in mind, as upgraded nominations typically are resolved faster than non-upgraded ones. So, even if you upgrade it and it’s rejected, the sooner you have to appeal or resubmit it.

I understand. Thank you so much for your help. I will upgrade it and see if it is accepted or not. If not, I will appeal it. I think it meets the criteria

This sign may throw reviewers off because it looks either like a DIY project or like a temporary installment, and both of these assumptions would cause a rejection

I have uploaded the real sculpture as a surrounding photo, maybe that helps

It all depends on the reviewers at this point, since it’s in voting.

If it does get approved, like I noted before, I’d upload a photo of the actual sculpture, as that’s what the nomination is for, not the info sign. If it’s rejected, I’d resubmit with a photo of the sculpture as the main photo. It’s just better to have the actual POI in the main photo than an info sign if possible, as that’s what’s being submitted, not the sign for the POI.

I have submitted the sculpture several times and also apealed for the rejection, but Niantic told me to upload the information sign.

Ok, that’s seems like a bad appeal decision. You don’t need an info sign to increase the chances of a nomination getting approved if it’s an art piece. Maybe the appeals team doesn’t see it as a sculpture, but see it as a natural feature.

Hope staff can take another look at the rejected apoeal.

Also, just curious of what the full nomination was for the rejected apoeal, including title, description, location, and supporting info. There seems to be some similar images online of a sculpture, but can’t tell for sure.

If it is rejected again, I will appeal again. Let’s see what comes of it… If they also reject it, I’ll submit the sculpture itself again and the information sign as an additional picture.

Please provide the full info of the nomination, the 1 that has the sculpture as the main photo. I think that needs to be looked at more.

The community’s reason for rejection was “companies in general”…THAT IS NOT A COMPANY

Generic business is chosen by some to reject something that they think is generic, but they really should be rejecting for not being distinct.

Your problem is:

-looks like a pile of rocks
-co fusing situation with the supporting photo
-laminated paper sign that could be fake

If you can find and add any information about this being legit online to the supporting information, that would make your nomination credible. This is why the appeal reviewer from Niantic asked you for a sign to include.

If you look at the rejection email of your first try that got rejected for Generic Business, does it say “our team rejected”? If yes, that means your nomination was never reviewed by the community but by Niantic, and the Generic Business rejection reason is a bug where the wrong reason gets displayed

The email says “Community”

Ok then the scenario with the bug was not happening here.

Some people incorrectly use this rejection reason as since the voting system was changed the last time, there’s confusion about how to reject things that don’t meet any criteria.

I tried searching for “Skulpturengarten Bad Erlach” and haven’t found any good result.

Neither could I find any information after searching in the website from the “Natur im Garten” Programme: https://blog.naturimgarten.at/

The lack of information you could easily show to reviewers makes it very hard to get this accepted. If you can’t find anything yourself about this either then I’m not sure if it could ever get accepted
