While looking to expand the playable area of our downtown plaza, I noticed that there are several strip malls/business plazas where nearly every building and business is already a POI, but NONE of them appear in game either as pokestops or as power spots, this is quite frustrating as now any attempts to nominate anything near here is rejected as a duplicate, is this normal? Is there any way for some of these POI’s to be reviewed and turned into pokestops? Or do we have to get creative and start nominating individual things / permanent fixtures inside the businesses. Coordinates of one POI surrounded by others is 36.055793, -95.790306. I’ll try to attach pictures.
These are all imported wayspots - you can see this if you click on one and look at the icons that come up.
These were imported specifically for use as powerspots, not as pokestops, but there is a proximity rule for powerspots so they won’t all get used.
The powerspot imports were generally of things that are not eligible to be wayspots, and they definitely didn’t use the submission criteria, so please don’t think that these represent eligible things that somehow need to be converted - they don’t.
I recommend ignoring them when looking for things to find to submit, unless you happen to see one that actually meets submission criteria.
The problem is these are all small local businesses that would make great pokestops, this isn’t like a generic strip mall, I’ve nominated several before I knew these were here (they don’t show up on the map unless you unselect community spot) and all of my nominations were rejected as duplicates. It feels kinda lame to have to nominate a piece of art in a little artsy Italian restaurant instead of being able to nominate the actual shop. So it’s not like I’m wondering why all these POI’s aren’t stops, I didn’t even know they existed till recently, it was more like why are all of my valid nominations being rejected, and then I discovered they were already POI’s
The imported wayspots don’t show up when reviewers are reviewing user-submitted wayspots and if you find something that is actually eligible to be a user-submitted wayspot (none of the imports near me are), you can submit it knowing it won’t be flagged as duplicate.
Hmm.
It’s possible your submissions are being rejected as duplicate for some other reason, such as being part of something that is already a wayspot, except there is nothing already there.
Also, when a rejection is made for duplicate, the photo often gets added to the existing wayspot, and none of these imports have photos (which is how it should stay).
I found this area on the map, and can confirm what was already said about these being imports for use as Power Spots only. Here is an explanation staff provided.
Further to the south, I do see business Wayspots that are full fledged Wayspots. If you submitted one of these that is already live, it would have been marked as a duplicate. I realize this is confusing. If you would like to share screenshots of one that has been rejected as duplicate, we can confirm for you that the Wayspot does exist and isn’t just a Power Spot import.
