Long time gym in park not hosting raids

I have been asked to try to find out if raids have been turned off here, or if there is a bug.

Bond Senior Center Gazebo
35.785603,-78.825901

I am not sure how long this has been an issue.

Hey @cyndiepooh ,

I see that we have removed Raids from this location at the request of the property owner.

Thanks,

Thanks for confirming. The bigger our in person events get, the harder it is to keep everyone away from the entrance to the Senior Center. I can see that 400+ people in front of the doors would be an issue, but that is the only seating where we start events. Our Community Ambassadors will try to reach out and see if they can find a compromise, hopefully before the town turns off more raids when that doesn’t solve the problem of folks gathering there for PoGo.

400 at that location?? Wow. I feel lucky now that for our local events, people mostly congregate in a decent sized park, which has about 8 gyms in. It is a very positive example of gyms being positioned deliberately through photo likes, because without that, it would have been hard to establish such an excellent place for events. (When events happen, you tend to find that the vast majority of people in the park are playing Pogo.)

This is in a park that has 19 gyms. This is just at a parking location in the park and is a convenient place to start.

(oops missed a few gyms in the first screen snip)
With the change to the 30minute timers, we don’t use all of them anymore for raid hour. We walk from the top of the hill to the bottom, and then it is time to turn around.

People drive in from surrounding cities and counties to play PoGo events here.

I don’t know if it’s useful…

I know our local pogo Community Ambassadors have had meetings with local officials to discuss large groups ( in the U.K. this is still a lot less than you have :joy:) meeting and walking around.

The result has been very positive and the local officials are being very supportive. So maybe it’s good to talk.

I use a local “Town Park” for Raid Days / Hours. I generally play solo and mobility issues mean I can’t keep up with a group so I park up, walk down to a bench where I can reach 3 Gyms and wait for the group to arrive, once they have done the 3 that I can reach they carry on for a couple more. I sit and wait until they return for part 2…

A relative that has recently returned to PoGo (last played 2016 / 2017 when he was a teenager) came with me a couple of weeks back. He was proper shocked when the group of about 25 came over the hill. Think he would have ran if it was 400…
