Long time to Accept Wayspot

I made a request for a pokestop for a community enterance gate (actually 2 seperate ones) and it hasn’t been declined or accepted, I’m still waiting for a response regarding if it was accepted or not and it has been 72 hours now since I sent both requests. (sorry in advance if I’m using wrong wayfarer grammar I’m kind of new to sending these) Can some one please help or explain? I heard its supposed to be anywhere from 24-48 hours, but its been more. Thanks!

Hello @TravisBoi1222

It’s hard to give a specific answer. The amount of time can vary before your nomination actually goes in to voting. Once in voting, it depends on how many active reviewers there are that can see your nomination. An upgrade allows more reviewers from a wider area to see.

Voting times have greatly improved over the last year. But taking a few weeks to months is not surprising depending on where you are located.

Hopefully my answers are making sense - I am quite tired tonight.

Also note that I moved your question to the General thread as that is a better fit

@LetsRollGirl beat me to it but I can add one thing. While you can’t review your own nominations, reviewing others will help reduce the queue, moving yours closer to the top. 72 hours is about as quick as it can go. That’s typical for my area but I have now had some in the system for over a week.

This is incorrect. Wayspot review could take weeks to months depending on how many reviewer in your area . If you want faster approval/rejection, you need to help review in your area to reduce queue.

You can also rally people to do review and to do Wayfarer in your state/country.

My voting phase for each nomination has been reduced from 1 week to 1-2 days unless it is an extreme gray area nomination.

I just want to mention a couple of things to help you avoid frustration. First, you don’t submit “Pokestops”:

Second, neighborhood entrance signs, if this is what you submitted, rarely meet criteria. You can read more about criteria here:

You may be confusing the time you gave with the time mentioned in the email that it can take an accepted Wayspot to go live in game if it is going to. Those emails look something like this:

Or you may have seen us mention that the ML (machine learning ai) model can reject a nomination around 24 hours after you submit it, but that “automated process” does not seem to be working right now.

21 posts were split to a new topic: Request for reviewers in Cuba

Hi @TravisBoi1222

You can see the current status of your nomination on your contribution page.
Once its got a decision you’ll receive an additional email but in the mean while you can observe when it starts to enter the voting stage.

Just to simplify what has been stated above in to 1 comment the following bullet-points are the “normal” process, occasionally we get reports that this has not been followed 100%.

  • Grace Period - 1 Day (allows time for you to check, edit or even withdraw nomination).
  • Machine Learning (Auto process used to reject obvious bad nominations, can make mistakes, currently resting).
  • In Queue - Random timescale, usually up to 7 days but can be delayed for other reasons. ***
  • In Voting - Your nomination is sent to Local Reviewers for voting. Timescale depends on the number of Reviewers in your area and whether your nomination is an easy Accept / Reject or Grey Area where more people might decide to Skip.
  • Results.
  • If accepted this is only accepted in to the database, other checks are done with the main 1 being the proximity check. https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/t/why-an-accepted-wayspot-may-not-be-used-in-pokemon-go-s2-cells-and-pokemon-go
  • If OK to appear in Pokemon Go it should appear within 48 from when it was Accepted.

*** Common reason to delay at this point is when you nominate 2 waypoints close by, this is to stop duplicates being voted at the same time. 1 will go in to voting, the other will wait until the first has completed.

Thank you for posting this explanation and clarification; I was wondering why I had a nomination ‘stuck’ in the queue…it’s not stuck at all, it’s waiting for a nearby nom to get voted on.

What do you think about this?

The bottom should say “if it meets the game inclusion rules”

Me he perdido un poco . Para que sería esto?? Se ve como pautas a seguir para alcanzar algún objetivo.

No worries, @SlimboyFat71 typed out an outline, and it was really good. I just made it into a flow chart. Some people follow those better than something written out. No new information. We’re happy to have you in the community.

The “grace period” and “in queue” pieces aren’t quite right. There is no guarantee that a nomination will go into voting after 7 days. There is one kind of grace period where Niantic will not pull a nomination into internal review (to ensure that we have an opportunity to edit) which is around 24 hours, after which point the ML model can reject it. But there is another kind of grace period where the nomination just won’t go into voting, even with an upgrade, which is up to 7 days, and is variable with each submission. I don’t have a suggestion on how to redo the list to show that.

There is also no indication here that a nomination can go into in house review by “our team” which can be a cause of concern to folks who are not aware that is a normal thing that happens. This usually happens at the ML decision point, or when the nomination is deemed to have been undecided for too long, i think around 3 months now. But they can pull at any time.

You have already noted that it needs to mention the inclusion rules. Maybe mention at the next sync, since we have recently been having sync issues.

In Queue is not limited to 7 days. I currently have 7 that have been in queue for 8 days now and I expect them to be there for a while yet. They are all in a small area so they are going serially.

Yep!! As I said. I didn’t add or change any information. I simply made @SlimboyFat71 post into a flow chart.

Moved the Cuba discussion out - hope everything here still reads correctly.

You are right some people like a flow chart. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

It’s tricky not to over complicate it, and keeping it simple helps new wayfinders focus on the key steps and not get overwhelmed by lots of detail.

In voting is simply reviewers - the word local isn’t needed and in the USA it could be someone on the opposite coast :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

It essentially means the voting process is underway.

Y estoy encantado de anunciar que fue aceptada mi primera propuesta y la segunda está en revisión. No tengo como agradecerles y espero pronto compartir con ustedes buenas noticias una vez aparezcan en el juego🙌🏻

The “in queue” period is too short. There’s a waiting period of 1 to 7 days (random), following which it will enter voting if there is nothing else in the local area already in voting. Quite what the “local area” is that determines this, I don’t know, but it is misleading to suggest it will go into voting after a 1-7 day waiting period.
