Mismatched Location

Got another denial after more then a week in voting, because of ‘mismatched location’. This was something I became aware of in that week : that even though I choose the exact to the millimeter correct location point, somehow the location gets moved several meters (most likely to my standing position at the moment I save it for ’ upload later’ . As far as I understood, it is a known glitch, and nothing can be done afterwards.

(For this nomination I did not check, just trusted the system so far (until it happened to me a second time in that week, so now I know).

I guess the best strategy is just to nominate it again, and try to park my *ss on the box when finishing the nomination to prevent this ? And is this glitch being worked on, because I will DEFINITELY fall into that trap again…and again…

Are you nominating in Pokémon Go? I had one recently where the signal wasn’t great, so the map hadn’t actually moved me from the last location I nominated - and I ended up nominating a play park in the exact same spot as some allotments. Whoops! Worst thing was, Emily accepted it so we ended up with the wrong one showing!

Apparently, if you don’t go onto the map between nominations, the pin will be where you last nominated - did you do another nomination before that one?

I’ve not heard of it taking your location from where you upload. If you upload later - you should be able to check on your nomination though and see where the pin was dropped. That will help you work out what caused the issue.

Good luck!

Also…. If Google maps isn’t showing that on there, people might have rejected it as mismatched for that reason. What was your supporting photo to help place it in the right spot?

Yes, I do the nominations in bthe app as I know of no other way, and I don’t have the right level yet in Ingress because I am the only player in my - now completely blue- town. I check with IITC if there is room for the nomination. Then I pinpoint the location as accurate as possible, and add the photo’s I took beforehand. Then I add some random text to alter later (‘edit’) and choose ‘upload later’.

It is not untill AFTER uploading that I can see if the location was off, because it was still OK in the last check-screen.

This was the area-photo. And it is indeed a few meters off, about from where the area photo was taken. Streetview in my village is very limited and outdated.

I tried to point the exact spot in the green circle. The pinpoint is about (but not 100%) where I stood. I must say the fact that the map is alwas upside down when I come from the north, makes it VERY difficult for me.
