LOL! All but that
I personally think it would be interesting to hear their viewpoint since they are a select bunch. I understand that for whatever weird reason paranoia and suspicion runs through Niantic as a company.
I had been contemplating this subjectā¦ā¦Iām a bit slow as I started yesterday and have redrafted it now
thanks to @NianticAaron for your insights.
Personal view.
I think the questions are fair. We have been appointed to a role and if I wasnāt an Ambassador I would probably been wondering what are they doing to earn those Ferrero Rocher.
We are not Niantic staff and personally I remain a wayfinder and a member of this community first and foremost. Without being grounded here I donāt think I would be good at that in between role that is an ambassador.
My instinct is to communicate more but there are constraints on that and those are essential if we are to have dialogue.
I think our answers to a previous AMA still sum things up well
What a short list but it gives an idea of the range and scope.
Iāve always been open to any feedback.
I am starting to get reflective as my term as an Ambo is coming to an end. Itās a positive experience.
Oh and in terms of the forum I perceive it to be an improvement to be able to split, merge edit etc ā¦ā¦but try to keep it appropriate. My actions are always visible. Yes itās annoying if a topic moves around but in my opinion better than long unnavigable postings.
Now where has that Ferero Rocher pile gone to
First, the vast majority of what we do canāt be talked about. We absolutely cannot get into the details of what we do in our role.
Second, even if we could discuss what we do, as a group we decided not to take any individual credit for anything. No one needs to know that Roli made X happen or Xeno convinced the Wayfarer team to do Y or whatever else has come out of our program. We each contribute the talents and time we have. Our main priority is to represent the community to the Wayfarer team so they know whatās going on and what needs to be addressed.
Third, the ability to be moderators on the forum did not exist before Niantic moved over to discourse. Do we get some things wrong? Sure. We are human and we are not paid to do any of this. But we keep the entire community in mind when we do moderation. We think about the impact words and attitudes have on the entire community. This is by far the largest user community Niantic maintains. I donāt really participate in any of the other communities, but I believe this community has a much higher interaction rate with actual Niantic staff than any other. I think itās good to take a step back and think about how frustrating it would be to have zero connection with community experts and Niantic employees to appreciate what we have here.
Importantly, no Ambassador has the ability to impact another personās account. Any edits made to a post are completely reversable if a Niantic employee determines that one of us overstepped our role. We have guardrails and we willingly comply with those. If one of us disagrees with something another said, we have private spaces where we express those thoughts. Every last one of us is open to discussion and learning how we can improve.
Thanks for the info straight from the horseās mouth so to speak.
Not my opinion, not a first time users opinion, not Niantic staff opinion.
No one needs to wonder for meā¦ Iāve not received any Ferreroāsā¦ so I guess not enough.
I may or may now know what happen to the Ferrero Rocher, but I canāt break NDA and may have said too much already.
