My accepted nomination doesn't reflect in game

Bug Reports should include the following and any additional information you feel is necessary to aid in the investigation of the bug.

  • Description of the issue : I nominated changing photo of gym Feb 5th, and it accecpted in Feb 9th. The photo have not changed until now.
  • Date first (or most recently) experienced
  • Device type, model, and operating system

You need to get enough people to up vote the new photo within Pokémon Go in order for it to become the main photo. Up voting photos is currently only available for trainers who are level 38 and above. There may also be hidden data left over from Ingress which could cause the number of up votes needed to be greater than what you might think it should be.

Many thanks for your replying. The new name of this Wayspot is updated in game by my nomination. So now new name and existing photo mismatched. Do I have to wait for the pictures to change? I hope they match quickly.

Hi @theyoungS2

I like keeping the map up to date and better quality pictures is a big part of that.

But I am curious that you have needed to change the name of the wayspot too. Is this a business that has changed? In situations like that, Niantic wants the new place to be judged on eligibility and not for us to repurpose it.

Edit: I see this is for a church (assuming this because of the cross). These can be an exception to the repurposing issue. (Note to self drink more coffee before helping).

Thank for your concern. Yes, the old and new one are church both. So I think it don’t have to be evaluated.

This should be fine to edit the title for a church. I’ve had this issue with a church where I live, and being it’s still a church, just the name changed, it wasn’t seen as repurposing.

I think repurposing comes up more with businesses that change what type of business they are, such as a restaurant changing the type of cuisine they serve along with their name and possible ownership. That would require the original Wayspot to be removed before a new one can be submitted.

Sorry if this changes the OP intent of the thread, and certainly not speaking to their case, but,

As generally dismissed as it is, wasn’t church changing ownership/denomination the literal example given that shouldn’t be “repurosed?”

My apologies for confusing the issue but, I had remembered a conversation from several months back that I thought they acknowledged old church to new church was an acceptable exception to the no repurposing rule. I did find this one:

It’s not as official as I remember. And I know that each appeal and/or accepted change by Niantic is based on each particular instance. So you make a good point.

In that case the church had changed its name. It was not a different church in place of the first.

Having said that, if a different church has replaced the existing church, I suggest reaching out to support through this link. The team will make changes if required. Thanks,
