Need help with determining if those are good places to nominate

already sent those and got rejected, I wonder if I have a reason to appeal them
(I already translated everything not in english to english)

  1. Title: self repair bike station

description: public self repair station for bikes

additional information: self repair station for bikes, unique to the area in an bicycle facillities area with an explanation sign near it as a part of the city’s project to make the city better
great place to do exercise meet and explore the area

Appeal: don’t remember what I wrote exactly, but from what I remember it was about being a unique place, those repair stations are not very common in my area, in fact that’s the first one I have seen in my city and most likely in my whole life, its significant since it helps many people in trouble who need to fix something in their bike on the spot and it’s part of a project of the municipality with a sign near it

I tried to appeal twice for this nomination, since they wrote in first time:

Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The nomination in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as it is a common bicycle stand with no significance. If this assessment is not accurate, please resubmit the nomination with additional context. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria before submitting your next Wayspot contribution

so that’s what I did and added more information, in the second appeal they wrote the exact same thing

(rejection criteria was Generic Business and
Temporary/Seasonal or Not Distinct)

picture of the nomination:

picture of the surrounding area:

  1. title: Running field

description: Running field

additional information: great place to exercise

reason of rejection: school

  • this running field is open after school hours weekends and holidays for public use and borders with public area

picture and additional picture:

  1. title: Fire is prohibited (the translation is not the most accurate, but its something like that, written in the sign)

description: It is forbidden to light fire in this place (a direct quote from the sign without the last 2 words)

additional information: this informational sign is not in noticible place, so this nomination could hopefully make more people aware about that

rejection reason: Wayfarer criteria

pictures:

additional picture

thought to write in appeal about being a unique sign in that area, the other sign is placed in the other side of the park, the less popular one and its barely seen, people need to look for it in order to see it

  1. title: Hop on!

description: Fitness facility in the ninja complex

additional information: great place to meet, explore and exercise

picture:

additional picture:

e

rejection criteria: Temporary/Seasonal or Not Distinct

(its located inside a ninja area inside the park)

  1. Title: Chess - use instructions (a quote from the sign)

description: The field is intended for use by the general public (a quote from the sign)

additional information: many don’t know that it’s possible to get from the park staff the pawns to play chess there, so this nomination could make them more aware. It’s a good place to meet and even do some sports, you need to walk there and there are sport devices near it

rejection criteria: Temporary/Seasonal or Not Distinct

*there is a huge chess board (human sized) there with a locked locker which contains the tools and possible to call the park staff in order to get the keys to play there

picture:

additional picture:

  1. Title: Collection point for trimmings and solid waste (quote from the sign)

description: At this point it is allowed to place trimmings and solid waste on Mondays (quote from the sign)

additional information:
This place is important for the community since that’s the local place to get rid of big trash like boxes and it helps to make the environment cleaner. Also, there are some people who throw trash there not in the specified days so hopefully this nomination will remind them in which days they are all (didn’t have enough space to finish the sentence)

rejection reason: Wayfarer criteria

picture + additional picture:

if this place is eligible to nominate I’ll make a better picture and supporting picture, there was a car parking near it at the time which made it hard to take a picture of it without having it in the frame so I tried with just the sign itself

  1. Its gonna be tough to get past people seeing this as generic infrastructure.
  2. Got lost.
  3. Not eligible if k-12, even if open to the public certain hours.
  4. Not eligible, this isnt an info sign this is a rules sign.
  5. Not eligible on its own, eligible as part of the whole playground.
  6. Description needs some work, dont mention “this nomination”.
  7. Not eligible, generic infrastructure.

That is a whole lot of stuff to go over in one post, and I am easily confused

1&2) I also feel like the bike repair station is generic infrastructure. But maybe someone who has more experience with bikes could help with that?

  1. It doesn’t matter if the public is allowed to use the school after hours. If it is on the grounds of a K-12 (children’s) school, then it is ineligible.

  2. “Wayfarer criteria” is usually an indication that the ML (machine learning ai) filter rejected this one. It is just what we call a “rules” sign, and does not meet the criteria of a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social.

  3. The training equipment was probably rejected because it was not seen as a significant (distinct) part of the park. The rule for playgrounds is that they should be submitted as a whole, and that is how reviewers seem to have judged this one. If you can provide information that this is a unique training station, you might be able to get it accepted, but every fitness station that I have had success with had a separate sign.

  4. I am surprised that the chess board sign was not accepted, but there may be something there that reviewers thought it was too similar too. I don’t see the sign or the field in your supporting photo to help show that it is there and is unique.

  5. The collection point sign is nothing that encourages exercise, exploration, or being social. Another kind of sign I would call a “rules” sign.

Hope this helps.

I really like #6.

The main image is fine, though not very inspiring. I think the second image should show the chess board on the ground and the sign and any other object that helps reviewers find this using satellite.

I would write the description something like, “Please ask X for the pieces to start your game of chess.” (instead of X write out who they are supposed to contact to get the pieces)

If it were me, I might do a little bit of research about “human chess,” maybe at this link: Human chess - Wikipedia.

Or maybe just some details (written in your own words) about the history of chess from:

I love writing informative nominations.

Hello and welcome,

There are many places on school grounds, like a track or playground, that may be open to the public after school hours. However, being they are on a K-12 school grounds still makes them ineligible. Many students may be using these areas during school hours, and many schools do not want unwanted outsiders coming around during school hours, even if they are just playing PoGo or Ingress.

Some reject POIs that they do not think are distinct as generic businesses, even though they aren’t businesses, and others reject under Permanent and Distinct, which is why Temp/Seasonal or Not Distinct was provided as another rejection reason.

Bike repair stations are becoming more common, especially along bike routes, so the community may see them are just part of the infrastructure and being indistinct. A fire prohibited sign is also indistinct, even if it has a unique design, as it’s noting to first responders that they cannot park their vehicles in the area. I would also reject the sign for waste collection to be indistinct, as it’s not a great place to be social, to exercise, or explore, which all Wayspots must meet. It’s also more or less a part of infrastructure, noting where waste can be dumped after mowing your lawn or trimming a tree.

The large chess board is something I would approve, but it may be better to get a photo of the actual board and not the sign. You may want to see if you can get the pieces set up on the chess board, and then nominate that instead of the sign.

The ninja course also looks eligible, as it would be a great place to exercise and possibly explore. I think a better title/description is needed though, not just a title of “Hop On.”

If you don’t mind sharing the location, at least for the chess board, it would help us advise. But you don’t have to.

Thank you so much for the comments,
really helps to understand better what can be nominated
seems like I accidentally skipped from 1 to 3
and as for the chess board, forgot to mention that there is already an existing nomination of the board and I wanted to make a focused one on the sign itself, probably impacted the decision

also sorry about the mess, wanted to make the post detailed without splitting it to several posts

yeah that’s not the right location, I don’t mind sharing it, just don’t know how to

ah - yes the sign would not be eligible except to represent the chess board. as I was explaining about rules signs.

okay i will delete that so i don’t confuse anyone. the coordinates should be at the end of your submission email after the supporting photo, but there is no need to give that now that you have shown us the existing pokestop.

glad you came here and asked! i know it is frustrating to make what you think are good nominations and have them rejected.

welcome to the forum!

there are several useful sections here - i will find and link a few

and plenty more!

Have to agree that the sign by itself for the chess board doesn’t meet criteria to be its own Wayspot. instead, you may want to see if you can add a photo of the sign to the Wayspot for the chess board.

You are doing the right thing asking here ……that’s why we have this area.

As well as all the great advice already given, I would recommend this article

It is long but is packed with useful information and ideas.
