Don’t see that this has been posted about yet, but PoGo has a new feature when requesting Wayspot removals: you can now take a photo! How it works is that after choosing the removal reason and leaving a comment (if you wish to), the next screen will ask if you’d like to take a photo.
While I didn’t use this feature, as I’m unsure if the photos for Wayspots inside are geotagged, it could certainly help to cut down on rejected valid removal requests here in the forums. I didn’t take any screenshots, as I didn’t even know it was an option, but it seems like it’ll be a nice new option!

Does it give the option to upload an existing photo.
Just thinking it might be a good idea to take a GPS Camera App image then upload that…
not needed if the photo is geotagged
Do we have confirmation that geotag data is retained when uploaded?
i don’t think we know. was hoping we could get confirmation here. it seems like it would keep the geotag since uploads to help chat keeps it.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but it has been rolled out. No way of knowing if the photos are geotagged, and no option to upload and existing photo. I still took a geotagged photo, uploaded to a 3rd party server, then provided the link in the comments.

Unlike other ways to report wayspots, the pokemon app requires the player to be near the wayspot, and the movement is logged. So it doesn’t really matter whether the photo is geotagged or not, imho.

And Ingress, the other game where one can submit removal requests, split from Wayfarer, and you don’t have the option to upload a photo.
I’ve included geotagged photos more as of late, and haven’t had an issue with removals. I’ve also used geotagged photos for location edits, so I wouldn’t say anything is logged down for Wayfarer, especially if additional evidence is needed. Not everyone thinks of even filling in the comment box, and that’s not Wayfarer’s fault.
I did one removal request since the change and uploaded a picture which I took using a camera that adds the GPS coordinates onto the photo itself. This avoids the question of the metadata being uploaded.

Yeah, I took a geotagged photo beforehand and uploaded it to a 3rd party server to provide the link before I even knew.
It’s possible that the photos could be geotagged, like how nominations have the lat/long in the submission email. There just hasn’t been any confirmation from staff yet, so can’t say for sure.
Used it thrice this evening. Takes the guesswork out of things and is fantastic. Thanks!
Yes, it’s nice, but we still don’t have confirmation that the photos are geotagged. I think they may be, but still no official confirmation on the feature yet.
So, I did use the feature yesterday to request removal of an active fire station. I found that taking a photo beforehand was much better than during the request process. I don’t know if it had something to do with taking the photo in landscape (was tryig to get as much of the buidling in the photo), but after taking a photo while requesting and hitting OK, PoGo would restart on me. I then took a photo before doing the request, and that worked fine.
Just something to keep in mind.
