Wow, huge change. Just in time for summer travel and Go Fest.
Are there any plans to grant additional appeals, or will that be remaining at two per month?
Well, itās world changing as long as you have service. I just got back from a trip where i never had enough signal to do Wayfarer. It was such a letdown.
Bravo Wayfarer & Wayfarers! Just bravo.
I may be misunderstanding how you wrote this but we can have 2 at a time and once used they replenish after 15 days. So approximately 4 a month currently.
Brilliant changes, especially for people who like to wayfind while travelling!
An increase to appeals would also match fantastically with this update, especially since the higher submission cap means a larger volume of submissions per player. Which in turn means a potentially larger number of ML rejections which need to wait for appeals to rectify.
Perhaps having an appeal refresh when accepted could also help with this.
For newcomers, this rating system might look like a hurdle at first, but participating in reviews will help them raise their rank. I hope it serves as a great stepping stone for them to learn the criteria and how to submit proper nominations.
Absolutely. The best way to learn how to make good waypoints is to review other peopleās. You get to see the errors, the bad photos, the poor supporting photos, and how useful a good supporting text can be. This new system really incentivizes new wayfarers to also become reviewers.
Bummer! I often take photos on vacation then submit remotely from the hotel wifi each night to avoid this problem when possible.
The main post talks about how the edits cap is also increased but I guess it doesnt apply to reports? When submitting an report on the wayfarer map it still shows a low number available and an accrual of 2 a day like before.
I could be wrong, but you gain one appeal back every 14 days, no?
So two per month, assuming you havenāt got any saved up (as if!).
If you actually gain two every 14 days and Iāve never noticed, my world will be shaken ![]()
You actually gain 1 per 15 days after last use, and can hold a maximum of 2 appeals.
So yes, you can have about 4 appeals a month
Itās a remarkable change, honestly ā one that many Wayfinders will probably welcome.
But the core issue at the heart of Wayfarer, improving the actual quality of the wayspot map, still hasnāt been addressed.
As we saw recently with complaints from Wayfinders in India, the quality of imported wayspot data needs urgent attention.
And while the latest update is nice, it doesnāt really tackle that problem.
At the very least, edit reports and removal reports should be unlimited.
And we should be able to submit edit reports from the web as well.
On top of that, the 10āmeter limit on location edits really needs to be relaxed ā something closer to a full kilometer would actually allow people to fix inaccurate imports.
If those changes were made, Wayfinders could finally correct bad imports with proper titles, proper descriptions, and proper locations.
Duplicate wayspots could be merged cleanly.
And all those legacy wayspots left behind by Ingress agents with no descriptions could finally be updated, dramatically improving the overall quality of the Wayfarer map.
And once that foundation is fixed, the Wayfarer Challenges ā which became impossible to run because the backlog disappeared ā could actually return.
I imagine a lot of Wayfinders would be very happy about that.
For information
The 10m limit on location edits only applies in game.
Using the help chat bubble on wayfarer makes it easy for location edits greater than to be done at home. You provide the information and the team then makes the decision as to exactly where the new location will be.
100% agree - I reduced my reviewing massively when I hit great for this exact reason! Looking forward to getting stuck back in again.
Yep⦠but that only relates to bad faith submissions and reviewing. It is possible to submit something that was eligible one day and not the next and is then removed, which I donāt think is covered by that statement.
