I don’t mind hehe get those votes! ![]()
If the answer doesn’t make it beyond the forums, does it matter?
I am very happy to see this experiment take place.
Improving game play should be the key objective. Have changing the spots per cell guidelines been identified as a method of increasing way points?
I believe that criteria should be changed to include bus stops. They are after all – a place of meeting and gathering. A point of return or a point to begin exploring. Even a daily commute is different each trip. Things change. What is the difference between bus stops, train stations and airports? They all serve travellers as start, transit or end locations. People meet at them to socialise, greet and say farewell.
Bus stops are generally pedestrian safe.
I am still thinking about corner street signs. In distant and recent times crossroads were certainly important meeting spots and commercial hubs.
Can we have this
emoji added to the list of forum post reactions, please?)
Almost all of them enable exploration in a way that wouldn’t be possible without visually distinct markers to help guide you, while others place mark streets that help you explore the history of a location.

If you add that one, please don’t deny me its cousin:

Why would you remove it? “I will nominate a pokestop at the risk of losing another one nearby” who would do this? Would the hypothetical rural player in an alleged pokestop drought zone do this?
In tandem with the generic text and generic title - why not also not have the image as a WayFarer generic Logo. So the image itself does not influence nominators and reviewers.
The WayPoint can still be in the position of postboxes/phone boxes/PROW signs/bus stops/Village Greens/ Pocket Parks/ Village Notice Boards etc etc
Once a Valid POI is accepted the Generic Wayfarer POI can blip out

Whats interesting as a nominator. For me this is !!!
I would be driven to look for new/better POIs if I saw the generic logo of a generic POI. Particularly if I saw valid POIs around.
I know I often visit new places and my first check is any waypoints. If no. Take photos and create for later.
I think Bus Stops should be eligible. They are safe to walk to, they are easily spotted on the maps. And there are a lot in many towns.
Do these PokéStops look the same as regular ones on the game map? If they don’t have any sponsor mark/color, I recommend adding one! That way, Trainers who aren’t familiar with the situation will be able to recognize that these are special PokéStops.
What about the number of nominators we see on the forums that don’t understand the S2 Rules and are going to be informed that the new statue or art installation will not appear as it’s in the same cell as a “Street Corner”.
What about the vast number of Wayfarers that are happy to report “against criteria” / fake waypoints for removal as they are more interested in accuracy than just numbers.
The fact that there are lots could be the problem. These “fixes” seem to be trying to address the common argument that it is not fair with the amount of wayspots for rural players vs urban players. Making “Bus Stops” eligible might add half a dozen stops to a rural area whilst a couple of hundred to a town making the argument worse.
But only in empty areas.
My reply was to a statement that “Bus Stops” should be eligible to criteria not in response to this trial / rollout.
Aah sorry my fault ![]()
So you would see them not added to the list of eligible items or somehow restricted?
I would say restricted. Adding them is great idea IMO, but we somehow have to filter them so that only show up when needed, and that is the problem, that can never go perfect, unfortunately
Correct.
As you state “only in empty areas” so by a Niantic Import and not by nominations.
One persons definition of “Wayspot Desert” is different to another so this has to be down to Niantic to decide how to define it.
The obvious would be “number of wayspots in whatever level of S2 Cell” Niantic decides.
I think the big suggestions are that they should be clearly shown as “Import” and not as “Criteria” and that they should be removed if an area develops so no longer a “Wayspot Desert” or an actual “Within Criteria” wayspot is added to the cell.
I would have made them like Community Ambassador Pokestops with a specific image to indicate they are experimentally placed there.
Great question! We’ll have to wait and see
it’s an experiment in unique places after all so who knows how the community in these areas will respond.
Hopefully, as both reviewers and nominators, they’ll have a better understanding of how locations like these promote exercise and exploration than people who get stuck in their ways and outright refuse to consider the validity of these types of locations.
