If a nomination is in queue, then goes straight to under review. Is there any reasoning behind that?
Like why it would bypass the voting process completely?
Side note, no appeal was used on nomination.
Niantic semi-randomly reviews a portion of nominations. This doesn’t necessarily mean they will decide it, it can also go back into queue/voting.

Yes, Niantic does randomly select nominations and edits to review. It used to be In Voting with the Niantic logo next to it, but it was recently changed to Under Review with the logo, which seems to be a little more clear.
Typically, staff will make a decision or send it into community review within a few days. If they do make a decision, you’ll receive an email saying “our team” made it, similar to ML decision emails.
