I’m trying to nominate a woodland area which is a public space with footpaths and bins, its part of a much larger site with playing fields, but those wayfarer spots are far away from this site. There are no fearures like trail markers, signs etc so I’m trying to nominate the forest itself but they are getting automatically rejected without reason.
I’ve checked wayfarer criteria and I should be able to nominate a forest. The photo can’t be much better as there are no man made features unless I go for the dog waste bin. I tried to photograph the metal access gates but this was rejected as not being permanent/distinct. I’m not able to appeal for another few days but I’ve attempted to resubmit with slightly different photos and descriptions but its just auto rejected each time.

This might be one to take to appeal.
IMO, you do need better evidence that the wood exists. It isn’t named on Google Maps, but is on OpenStreetMap as the “Black Country Millennium Forest” - Way: Black Country Millennium Forest (267426829) | OpenStreetMap
I would advise you to find some other references too (council etc) and place them in the supporting text or appeal text if you are taking it straight to appeal.

Thank you for that, I knew I’d seen it on a map somewhere but couldn’t find it again. Unfortunately my council has no information about this specific site, it only makes sweeping statements about various sites in yhe area getting re-forested. I’ll attempt to appeal when I can but I may also retry with the gate photographs because they were the only ones to even make it to voting.
Hello and welcome @jeblee84
I think pictures of a gated entry might work better.
Also this is about a woodland and the pictures don’t look very woodland. So a gate with a path in trees fits what you are describing better.
You are going to need all the references you can get for the supplementary.
Ok to add to all that
There are some Public Rights of Way (PROW) through the woods Footpaths 110,111,112 and 113 I think. These are supposed to be marked as PROW so if you get stuck approach about getting some markers.
But you can add the fact that these are PROW to your description and support for this nomination. They aren’t just random paths.
So this sort of picture would be better
Along with it being on Dudley Wood Ave starts to build a better picture of what is here.
Straight ahead is path 0113 and if you go right you can follow paths through the woods and green spaces to mushroom green valley.
Looking at the map I do see other woodland with the same name “Black Country Millennium Forest” so perhaps it’s not that unique. “Dudley Wood Millenium Wood” is a bit of an odd name (and you mis-spelled “Millennium”), I did wonder if it was part of an older woodland (for example just “Dudley Wood”) which sometimes you can find looking at the maps at the NLS, but if there was an older woodland it vanished under the industrial landscape - https://maps.nls.uk/geo/find/#zoom=17.0&lat=52.47801&lon=-2.08446&layers=102&b=1&z=0&point=52.47778,-2.08390&i=101585833
In this case, the earliest maps have the location as “Providence Works” which was an ironworks. The surround area was mines. This one from 1946 shows the town growing up around the site..
It might be worth researching the Works (e.g. https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Providence_Ironworks\_(Cradley_Heath) ) and the nearby Saltwells Colliery as that could give the submission more depth. There might also be some bits of industrial history still around relating to the mines and ironworks that could be submitted.
The picture that @elijustrying showed alongside the map would work well as a main photo, because it shows an entrance and can be seen on streetview, making for very easier confirmation of location. Don’t use the actual streetview image
On OS maps up until the 1970s, the woodland was called Dudley Wood, but that name has transferred to the area of housing. This is a remaining fragment of Dudley Wood, with a similar entrance at 52.475647, -2.083142 that would be as eligible as this.
Unfortunately all those gateways are getting very scruffy and I think that was the reason voting rejected it but I’m going to take some new photos and attempt those
There’s a lot of historical industry in this area, I’m slowly adding what I can. The council are rubbish at promoting any of it so I’ve had to nominate a lot of listed historical buildings that are falling apart but managed to get a couple through. Not a lot I can find on these woods except it used to have a speedway stadium next to it.
I think I’ve got a few photos with better tree coverage. Its probably the wrong time of year to attempt adding this one as most of them are fruit trees and small birches that are only 20 to 30 years old.
If you’ve got snow today then that can make some fantastic photos
