This got rejected but doesn’t stay the reason why just that it didn’t meet the criteria but it’s a walking route, it’s a permanent fixture it leads you on a decent walk through my village and other signposts like this have been accepted so I’m not sure why it got rejected

This was declined by the automatic system as it decided it was likely to be rejected.
However it is a valid Public footpath sign and it needs to be presented in a better way.
Put into your own words but
The title should say what it is - Public Footpath Sudb 816
The description should cover the path along a green corridor through the park and on into the woods.
you are giving the reader an idea of what they will see as they follow the path.
The supplementary can confirm it is a Public Right of Way marker that encourages exercise and exploration.
The main photo should really focus tightly on the sign for example
If you can get a picture where tube background is less cluttered the better.
I tend to use a cloth to give the sign a quick clean first if it is a bit mucky.
By doing these things you are being clear about what it is you are submitting and it stands a better (though not guaranteed) chance of getting through. If there are further discs long the path they are worth submitting as they will usually be at stiles or gates.

If you use websubmit you can add up to 5 supporting images.
So you can stand back and get pictures of the marker. I also use a screenshot from rowmaps to confirm it is a PROW

I disagree with naming these footpath signs after the county council coding system, as these codes mean nothing to people who will be using the footpath.
My preference is to name footpath signs for where they are taking people. E.g., Public Footpath Marker from Longsbottom towards Nether Cradley.
I suspect the main problem was the lack of focus with the marker not prominent in the photo.
I think either are suitable as both can be honest about what it is.
I certainly think oIf not in the title the actual footpath number should be in the description.
I’m saying should, as I don’t regard it as mandatory, just really helpful in producing a full PROW submission.
