Why do they have to be pokemon? Keep in mind that waypoints are used in various games and while to you it might make sense for it to be pokemon, maybe something more non game specific, could please everyone not just PoGo players.

But Pokemon could also please a lot of people who don’t play Pokemon Go. It is a very popular franchise.

However, Roli has a great point, and a sculpture that is not so specific to one of Niantic’s games might have an easier time in voting. If they haven’t already been created and would still be a fun project for you.

Well our community plays pogo and we have a group on Facebook and pokemon would stick out to everyone easily identified as pokestops and appealing to children who don’t play but love pokemon and can also be something family’s could use as a back ground image for a picture. Pokemon is huge and widely known by everyone.

Not sure why the markers being a pokemon would matter for other games, when most markers are random objects that have absolutley nothing to do with the game the stop is associated with.

I think it is fine to use Pokemon! But some reviewers who are used to seeing fakes submitted may be harder to convince that these weren’t just set up to get game locations if they are Pokemon themed. As long as you have some kind of evidence of permanence and permission then they would be eligible. Just something to consider if you haven’t started the project yet.

In some cases, a town or other municipality may reject a project based on Pokémon depictions for legal concerns, too - since the Fan Art exemption for use of Pokémon images does not include public display. It might be better to use artwork that does not involve any potential violation of intellectual property laws in your project to make it more palatable to the property owners.

Go for Digimon, that’ll please everyone and we won’t ever have a Digimon GO as I doubt Niantic would go for that
