Not a duplicate

Hello all. I’ve just had a waypoint rejected for it being a duplicate yet it isn’t. Do I have to waste an appeal on it?!

Ace Comics is already in the database.

It is an Ingress Portal, but it cannot be added to Pokémon Go due to the proximity rules used in Pokémon Go. The Level 17 S2 Cell containing it also contains wayspots for “The Castle”, “Lion Statue Atop The Pillar”, and “Culver Street East Wall Mural”. Each Level 17 S2 Cell can only contain one Pokéstop or one Gym so I’m assuming that one of those wayspots already exists in Pokémon Go and that’s why Ace Comics can’t appear. So don’t use an appeal, because it is correctly marked as a duplicate.

For future reference, when you make a new submission in Pokémon Go, if you are physically stood at the location of what you’re submitting and you open up the submission process, you’ll see the map first. I’ve highlighted a toggle in the bottom left. If this is on, it will show you all wayspots within 100 metres of your current physical location (it doesn’t update if you move the map around, so you need to do it whilst you’re physically at the location).

Anything that’s in Pokémon Go already shows as a blue icon, whilst anything that isn’t in Pokémon Go shows as an orange icon. You can tap these icons to see what they represent. If something is orange, it’s either because it’s been submitted very recently and hasn’t had chance to sync with Pokémon Go, or the more likely reason is that it isn’t eligible to appear in Pokémon Go, which is usually due to the one Pokéstop or Gym per Level 17 S2 Cell rule.

This article may help you understand the rules used by Pokémon Go a bit better.

That’s brilliant information, thank you very much.
