Now Arriving: Germany! (+Japan & USA)

Hello Explorers,

Thank you for flying with us to the USA. We have now landed in Germany and will be making flights to and from Japan and USA for the duration of the Challenge. This means that you will now be getting nominations and edits to review from all three challenge countries.

Congratulations on reaching 75K+ resolutions! Tier 3 is within reach!

yeah, me neither. i’m almost at 2k… but since like 24 hours they loaded very slow or at all.
even now after new stage open, they still load pretty slow and with some errors

It’s always easier when your home and play areas are one of the challenge countries (or you’re Trollfarer). But the key to these seems to be review a lot early before the problems settle in. That would have been easier for Japanese reviewers since they didn’t have to slow down to understand the “new” challenge reviews they were getting.

I think most part of the leaderboard are from Japan and US. I don’t really know how I can be in the leaderboard when I wasn’t able to review in +24h because all the errors and bouncing ballons. At this time I will try to keep inside the top ^^

i guess the challenge is not to review, than to wrestle with the wayfarer loading screen

here we go !

You have done a daily average of reviews that surpass my own! I was showing my kids and you did ~1600+ per day! Way to go!
I am surprised due to family demands, work, and all the errors I have manage to pass 1k!
I also gave up on reporting school wayspots that I found on the nearby map, as well as multiple duplicates I came across. Plus the disc golf course baskets.

It looks like we won’t make the 145,000 now?

As great as it is that users like @Trollfarer @MegaTrainerRed and others are willing to put in a lot more time and effort than many it does seem off that the top 10 have done more than 50% of the total challenge reviews.

Only another 900 users doing the minimum 50 which is pretty easy given the amount of edits would put us already at the top tier.

It has been difficult since none of us are from the Challenge countries. I’m assuming the rest of the people in the Leaderboard are from US and Japan to be honesta. Also between top 4 and 10 there is not much difference, anybody can be there at the end of the Challenge.

I’d love advice on how to review when we don’t know the language or area. :face_with_peeking_eye:

I speak English, am from the US, and trying to review Japanese lettering with photos I’m unsure what it says is a little hard.

Personally, I don’t even attempt new nominations in German or Japanese. There is just too much lack of context and knowledge for me to feel comfortable doing it, at least for now. However, I will do edits of titles/descriptions/etc. because they are small chunks of text that I can copy/paste into a translator.

My preferred translator is DeepL (DeepL Translate: The world's most accurate translator) because, in my humble opinion, it captures the nuances of language translation better than something like Google Translate.

PS - Welcome @ncoombs! We are happy you are here

I have been thinking along the same lines as I have watched the leaderboard numbers and the total resolved records. Seems like the minority is carrying the majority right now. For my part, I am just shy of the 500 reviews mark. That was the personal goal I set for myself at the start.

Admittedly, I am “slow” on my reviews, but that is because:

  1. I am pretty new to this all still and don’t have a lot of experience with all the do’s/don’ts/best practices yet (I am treating this challenge as a crash course in reviewing).
  2. I just naturally like to take my time on a review to try to ensure I get it right (quality over quantity).

I have a few theories as to why the community seems to be lagging a bit in its efforts, but it is all pure speculation.

So ten people have done half of all of the reviews  the main thing I am getting from the post is that there are hardly any people doing this  No wonder we aren’t getting all the rewards :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
