Yes that was my thinking.
I am trying to get you to think through what you would say to convince reviewers, either appeals or community, on this nomination. The “community garden” that I am familiar with is where people have a little plot of land that they tend. That is not this.
I can’t find the “Rain Garden” sign on street view, but I see little cutout pockets all along the sidewalk. What is special about this one?
If I were convinced that this were something that should be submitted, I would center the main photo on the sign for the garden and straighten the photo in a resubmission.
If you are convinced that this meets criteria, and don’t want to resubmit, you can appeal. You get 2 appeals, each on a 20 day timer before you can use them again.
There is no need to explain this to me. I am trying to help the OP think through their nomination.
Yes, you have explained that. But, from a reviewer point of view, and one from a snowy region, I might not think this is a rain garden just by the sign. I might see the snow and just think it’s a bunch of rocks from the supporting photo, nothing more and nothing less.
Sometimes we do need to consider how ML/reviewers/appeals team will take a look at nominations when submitting. Even if there is something small that could possibly cause a rejection, I would want to improve on it before submitting or even resubmitting.
Yes, snow in a photo shouldn’t disqualify anything. However, this again is a rain garden, usually full of plants, not snow and rocks. This may cause some to think it’s not eligible, seeing snow and rocks instead of plants with the sign.
I recently had a photo review for a duck pond, but the sign for the pond, the place marker for it, was covered in snow and couldn’t be read, whereas the other was taken during nicer weather with greenery and could easily be read. I’m getting a lot of nominations with snow in them right now, as well as photo edits, and some just don’t have the best photos to represent the POI.
It says rain Garden on the side. Literally in the photo i took…you wont see it from that angle. you can literally see this is fall/snow weather. Im confused how there’s a confusion on why you dont see plants during the cold weather. im confused on why you question if its a rain garden… when it literally says … rain garden…
i understand people can look at it and be but that dont look like a garden yeah due to weather but it says… rain garden on it… like …the title of what it is… is in … the picture …
I am not questioning that it is a rain garden. I am asking you why a rain garden is something that meets criteria. The ones that I am familiar with have detailed information that make them great for exploration.
I will give up since I am not communicating my thought process to you well. If you appeal, be sure to explain WHY this rain garden meets criteria. I do not think that the appeals reviewers are necessarily from the US. If you resubmit, take your time with the photo to give it a clear focus.
lol interest of fairness, i expect people to look at this and say " what is this… oh its a rain garden… whats a rain garden oh…" “rain garden during in the winter” …doesnt currently look like a rain garden, but i guess the name on it helps " " must be unique to that area cuz idk"
I did mention previously that some of what is mentioned in the supporting info, like it being a place for pollinators, should be included in the description. The description should include more educational info than the supporting info.
i feel like being a place for pollinator, is kinda a given with plants area. the unique part is that does rain management with style ( during blossing season ofc course. but i do like your suggestion of adding it in.
Not everyone knows this with rain gardens though, so it’s helpful to include in the description. I nominated and got approved a pollinator garden at one of my local libraries, and I made sure to include info about how people can learn more about how to start their own gardens from a local university, as it has their website and a QR code on the sign. I felt that this would be info that some may want to explore, and may want to know how to find that info.
I do have to get going, but good luck. And yes, I read the description for the nomination, and having some additional info about the plants and pollinators doesn’t hurt. You don’t need a full explanation of how a rain garden works.
Lol that looks exactly like my suggestion for a photo that ML would allow through.
(And it has snow.)
If this one is already in game and yours is different, then you will want to add a location to your title so it is unique. Either in a resubmit or as an edit if an appeal is accepted.
i was planning on editing after thinking the ML may reject it cuz i put the location in the title . (cross streets) it rejected it the first when i put them in. i was now informed it was ML that did it.
I forgot about this piece of your original post. I don’t think that having a location in the title had anything to do with it being rejected previously. I think that would only help it.
Hello community, I am fully aware you can appeal but at the same time , wait 20 days to appeal because ML doesn’t know it’s a Designated garden area isn’t fair. During the winter there are barely any flowers due to weather. I literally got four of these rain garden denied by ML. I would have to wait 20 days just to get to appeal then wait another 20 days to get the other to appealed Because I was told ML doesn’t know any better . This is very discouraging Because Rain gardens are unique to the area I live in. I even tried Put the name of where the Rain gardens are located and it still got denied. Do I seriously have to wait 40 days just to appeal all these ? It’s a real disappointment. I worked hard to get an upgrade just for ML to pick it up and deny it …
PS all these Rains gardens Are different designated areas, but all do the same thing of preventing runoffs grid]
Do I really have to wait 40 days? Can anyone look into this?

To quote a phrase someone once said to me. Repeating the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
Now that you have received multiple rejections, I would suggest appealing the rejection via your Wayfarer account first, and if the appeal fails, appeal it here. Without seeing the Description and Supporting information, I don’t know how you have described it, nor do I know if this is a Council supported Garden.
Plus it’s 20 days from when you raised the appeal for a given nomination before it resets. (So if you appealed 2 nominations on Day 1, it will be circa Day 20/21 when both will be available. If you appealed 1 nomination on Day 1, and 1 nomination on Day 2, 1 nomination will be free on Day 20/21 and the other one will be Day 21/22, if that makes sense).
Hi, it looks to me that this is the same nomination or the same type of nominations you posted about yesterday, and were given ample advice on. I will be merging this thread to the other one so that we can keep all of the advice in one place, otherwise it will be very difficult to keep track of.
With how many identical rain garden labels you show in this single post though, I have a hard time seeing them as very unique, so in my view this is not necessarily the slam dunk you say it is. Maybe that is also why ML is having trouble.
The reason i took a picture of the name of the Gardens is due to this weather. The plants are dead so these Gardens are doing its others purpose preventing run offs. My thinking was take a picture of the NAME of the Garden. WITHOUT the name it would look like just a regular area from (GOOGLE POV) They arent mass produced and are designated garden areas(only 5 around my area). they still remain city public gardens.
I was trying to figure out if really do have to appeal each and every last one of them.
It seems harder and harder to prove why we need rain gardens , rather then regular gardens. telling people that my area gets floody ,so these gardens help sounds like a matter of opinion since they dont live in this area
Out of curiosity, I looked up rain gardens in NYC. Seems there are over 12,000 of them. That to me makes them not very “unique”. The onus is on the submitter to explain why these are great places to exercise, to explore, or to gather socially. It seems the only possible position you could argue is a great place to explore, but given how common they are, I think that is a huge stretch. Even with human reviewers you may face an uphill battle.
why is everyone over looking that these are gardens.. i live in the residential side of NY. THESE GARDENS ARENT EVERYWHERE like you think it is.
