Years ago when I first started playing, I was lucky enough to find out that by living next to a church, it meant I had a couch portal but it was moved.
I recently created a couch portal that falls in line with the criteria. It was approved. And within a day it was one removed.
So what do I do to get things restored here? The church itself is a portal. But now they got the Bell Tower, which is part of the church, removed. I’ve seen MANY other churches have several parts of their building approved as portals. I emailed them about this and they said that it’s a duplicate portal (which is nonsense). Nor will they move the original valid portal to it’s original location.
Please advise. Thank you.

Hey, bell towers are usually not eligible on their own if the church is already a wayspot unless they have a quality that makes them really distinct enough, it sounds like the staff decision was that this is not the case for this example.
For the location correction of the church Wayspot, you might need to file it seperately via Wayfarers help chat, which can be found within the help tab on the wayfarer website.
Mass reporting working is a myth that gets spread a lot. Quantity of reports is not a decision factor within Nia staff.
If they still decide against your cases, share them in more detail here or with an ambasssador like me (ambsaadors can open DMs with users at request) so we can see maybe if there is a reason for that.

That’s why they moved the couch portal in the first place.
If you say mass reporting is a myth, then fine. But I still have my suspicions. I was sent a warning by Niantic for literally using a laughing emoji in comms. So ridiculous reports ARE a thing that sometimes are successful.
