Park treated as a Roundabout

Nomination was rejected on appeal due to “object’s location in question is on a roundabout with no pedestrian access which does not meet the Wayfarer criteria”

The nomination is a park which is clearly shown named as “Althorne Park” on the supporting map, coloured green (which indicates a park). The park is surrounded by a suburban road (Althorne Way) and this may have created the mistaken impression that the area is a roundabout. It is not a roundabout. This is further evidenced by the fact that roundabouts are not named as a park AND comparing the land size with other nearby areas (including housing and parks). Safe pedestrian access is evident via the grassed area that surrounds the park.

Is there a way that this decision can be appealed or do I need to submit a fresh nomination.

Any tips on how to improve this nomination, noting that the park has no signboard.

Hello and welcome @TheGallopingCat

This is an interesting case that is quite tricky.
First you have the situation that there is no sign for the park. It isn’t essential but that can prove difficult. It appears to be a park.
The whole park is like the centre of a large roundabout

There are no official crosswalks to reach the park. However it is in a limited residential cul de sac. So actually minimal traffic. From satellite and street view it appear to also act as a parking area. Obviously getting out the car once parked there gives safe access.
There doesn’t appear to be much there but I can imagine it is a communal gathering point for this cul de sac and possibly more of the estate.
Common sense says that this could be a safe POI but ?? Not sure if the Wayfarer Team would say it was within guidelines.

It’s clearly a neighbourhood-family area. It’s not a roundabout, even kids play on these streets and park. The road is quite visible serving only for the cars to park/unpark from their respective homes. I think it was a very rushed review by Niantic rushing appeals.

At least for me it’s very clear that this is a no-danger zone and should be accepted.

I’ve lived on a road like this, ie road ending in a “roundabout”. My cats used to sunbathe in the road for hours

There is no danger here for pedestrians. And this is too big to be considered a suburban roundabout anyway, it’s clearly a park that is for everyone to use
