Periods. Or: Periods

For these changes, the dates in the description may prove useful.

Formerly XYZ Dogpark, the site has renamed in XXXX as ABC Dogpark. It continues to serve as a play area for the furbabies and their parents.

The process can definitely have more improvements and this is what can be effective for now.

On repurposing, if a pub changes its name… it’s still the same pub. Yes, it might get a new interior and have new owners, but the building is still the same. Usually the new name of the pub can be verified easily… so, I’m happy to accept changes like that. But in fact should the old wayspot be deleted - and possible lost forever in Niantic games - and resubmitted?

This isn’t such a problem in ingress where portals don’t have so many special characteristics but can certainly have huge consequences in Pokemon Go when it means potentially losing a gym, showcase spot or route.

I can see why people would actively choose not to remove POI in those cases as it would be detrimental to their gameplay and community. It’s a difficult one and hard to know where to draw the line.

Personally I wouldn’t be at all adverse to repurposing when a pub for instance simply changed name but there are huge grey areas that Niantic wish to avoid and there doesn’t seem to be a good answer for many. It does mean that their database will be less accurate until they provide a better solution, but that’s up to them.

I very rarely report anything for removal as I don’t trust Niantic to handle things well, especially when it may affect gameplay for others, Most of the people I know are happy to leave POI out of date instead of taking that risk.

In your proposed scenario, how does knowing the original text associated with the Wayspot and the proposed edit help?

If I saw an edit to the name of a park (any park) I would check Google and/or look for a city parks & rec website to verify independently. Otherwise, I’d be placing blind faith that the edit is done in earnest and I’ve seen too many nefarious attempts to include player names or other irrelevant information - abuse.

Please do not add more off-topic questions to me as a * because I’ve already answered above or do not want to sway from the original topic.

Adding a period or changing to “famiky” in the edit title or description is abuse. It was not a mistake and that’s what the “Abuse” button is for. Period.

Niantic can make the final decision, we are just informing the suspicion.

*Mod Edit: Removed inappropriate word

Please be respectful and dont refer to Ambassadors or former Ambassadors as henchmen

That didn’t happen though, someone was fixing the typo.

Whilst I don’t always see eye to eye with the Staff and volunteers who give up their time to help us on this site, I wouldn’t knowing throw insults towards them. Calling the volunteers a henchman is bang out of order as is somewhat contemptuous. I know I am not in a position to ask, but I think you owe @Gendgi an apology at the very least.

Lol. It’s a well known tactic people use when they can’t defend their argument on its own merit. Its usage goes back at least to the ancient Greeks. Nothing new here.

Usually when I can’t defend my argument, I stop talking. If I keep on talking myself into a hole, I do so without knowingly trying to throw insults at the person I am speaking to… unless they throw insults towards me first…

@Gendgi, if I came across too much, I truly apologize as I know most people here want everything to be approved into a Waystops.

I’m just tired of everyone, especially from outside of USA trying to sway my thoughts while I am dissatisfied with a lot of poor nominations, especially shopping center signs that aren’t fun to go visit.

I’ll leave for now.

The first option in the edit review flow is not necessarily the existing title/description. Please select the best one from the options without considering which one is the existing text.
