[PoGo] Swapping displayed wayspot in a cell?

Hey all, I have been wondering for a bit if it is possible to request that a specific wayspot be displayed on the game board in pokemon go as the pokestop when there are multiple in a cell. I figure this can be abused so it would make sense if it isnt possible.

A park near my play area has a cell that contains 3-4 active wayspots; a playground, a splash pad, and 2 small tent-cover pavilions. As it stands, the right pavilion is the pokestop in that cell, and the others periodically become powerspots, as expected. I would love to see the playground or splash pad as that cell’s pokestop since they tend to be more significant inside of a park than a tent-covered bench (basically).

Here is the lat/lon: 42.904137, -85.700927

Heres a picture of the park cell in question, with red dots indicating existing wayspots: (The pavilions might both be the same wayspot)

That is not possible for us to do through Wayfarer. A property owner could request that a problematic Pokestop be removed, but I don’t think you are saying there is an issue with this one.

Correct, no issue in particular, just as request to have a different wayspot in the cell be the pokespot without removing one. Mostly to help draw attention to specific things in a cell, like the playground over the pavilion

Interesting.
One persons idea of “ this is the better option” could be the opposite of someone else’s.
It could be a pokestop that has been there for years, and that players like being able to sit down out of the rain and catch some things on a lure sounds better than tge part where kids are actively running around. (Playing devils advocate :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:)
There are can be unintended consequences you might lose a show case, any routes attached to it would be withdrawn, and depending on spacing you could suddenly find the Powerspots are blocked.

So it sounds harmless, but …….

What becomes a stop in a L17 cell is random, but usually the 1st Wayspot to be approved there becomes the stop in PoGo.

Wayfarer just provides the database map of Wayspots, and it’s up to each game to determine which ones will be in the games, so we have no control over which ones are in the games. If users were able to select, this could lead to some issues and maybe even some possible abuse, with some possibly false removal requests being made because someone wants a different Wayspot to be the one to be in PoGo over others, for example.

Letting PoGo choose what becomes stops is the correct way to go, instead of possibly having issues with users selecting.

This has come up on the forums a few times in various iterations.

I’ve yet to have anybody suggest a method of doing this that isn’t problematic. Not to say it’s a bad idea, I had the same idea a while back myself. I can’t think of a method of implementing it that wouldn’t end poorly.
