Whats the point of having a a high review rating?
Its obvious that it can be used to detect if someone is a using the system if they troll around getting 1* rating, but what benefit per say does one with top 4* reviewer rating has on someone like me with just 3* reviewer rating? Just wondering really.
There are a couple things that I’m aware of that a high review ranking does.
-
Reviewer ratings of Good or Great apply Accepted agreement numbers to medals/badges in Pokémon Go and Ingress progression.
-
I’ve heard that the higher your review ratings means that your review vote weighs in more during voting for a wayspot. I cannot confirm this assumption though.
If you have a high reviewer rating, your reviews have more weight behind them when it comes to the overall decision making process of whether a wayspot should be accepted or rejected.
Additionally, if you’re in Good or Great standing, any agreements you earn count towards your Wayfarer medals in Pokémon Go and Ingress.
It has also been anecdotally reported that you can review faster without getting a cooldown with higher rating.
This isnt an “assumption”, it was stated somewhere sometime.
Aside from whats been said if you get a cooldown, the rating can determine how long your cooldown is.
Fair enough. I just didn’t want to give a wrong impression. It is just based on my understanding (that I can’t point to a reference at the moment).
I think we tracked down the clearest statement to a Google+ post, which is unrecoverable. But this statement from the December 2021 AMA references it:
30-50 to approve vs 5 to reject rumor - Can you confirm/deny these numbers, or comment on any plans on how you combat rejection-agreement abuse?
- It takes a variable number of reviews on a contribution before we decide to take the majority-wins decision, a number of which is dependent on your Wayfinder rating among other things.
Hello,
This is directly from the Wayfarer FAQ, and as you can see, it does address how a reviewer’s rating can play into a submission being resolved.
How many reviews does it take to make a final decision on a Wayspot’s eligibility?
This exact number cannot be disclosed at this time, however, we can say that this depends on the performance of each individual Wayfinder.
So, the better a rating a reviewer has does carry more weight when it comes to a final decision being made on a submission. And yes, having a Good or Great rating also affects the medals received in PoGo and Ingress for reviewing.
I wanna say thank you all for taking your time to answer my question, means a lot for a newcomer like myself that have found a helping community to interact with, you’re the best!
