Why what’s the reason?
So, it can only go with what im seeing on iitc and goovle maps, but id guess a whoever load of the waypoints were removed for being fake.
I tried to find 4 of the waypoints that are currently in ingress on google maps, the maps is from 2 years ago, so its possible they might be there now but I can’t find any proof of them existing on google maps.
To be clear, i can find some existing, such as the temple (who’s first name i can’t say because it’s a nickname for a thi g used in prison) but others dont seem to be visible on google maps, and if someone went through and reported them, niantic might have gone through and removed them for not finding them the same way I can’t
To be clear, im not saying they are fake, just that for some of them I can’t find proof from Google maps and street view
How to come to know why they have been removed?

If they don’t exist, anyone could have reported them for removal on the basis that the objects do not exist in real life. In this case, Niantic staff would have accepted the removal.
They were fake Wayspots created through systematic Wayfarer abuse. This is why they have been removed.

Then why they are present in ingress?
As it’s visible in ingress intel
Pokemon Go and Ingress are not connected. They split several months ago. Anything removed from Pokemon Go since the split would have to be separately removed from Ingress
