Pokestop/Gym doesn’t show in game

Hi, pokestop/gym that has been approved does not appear in the game.

Welcome to the forum @blankSK

I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the Lightship database, which can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

This Wayspot is in the same L17 S2 cell as another Wayspot, so cannot become a Pokestop or gym:

This is the other one I can see as a portal on iitc:

So, why is somewhere several pokestop or gym together? Like here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HSx2dN5ntztAVBNw8?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

There are 2 gyms next to each other and 10 pokestop.

I just randomly marked something in each cell for pogo so i could show you the highlights, but based on the L14, it seems like 2 gyms and 10 pokestops is correct. The red dots show how two gyms could be close together but each in its separate L17 cell

Hello,
Niantic has never published the rules by which it decides what to select from lightship database into a specific game.
Community observation and research shows that the rule is 1 pokestop or gym per level 17 cell. There is no set distance. So depending on where the objects are in real life, they can be right next to each other and if the cell line goes between them each can appear. However if something is already live in that cell then it won’t appear.

Also in the past it was possible to maliciously manipulate the database to try and create clusters of pokestops with several in one cell. This has been acted upon to stop it happening.
So some clusters may be due to random luck with cell lines and others because of manipulation.
