I don’t know what to do with these. Clearly someone is trying to “correct” this imported for Powerspots Wayspot to what is actually there. The title and the description don’t match each other.

Reject…
Why? Is the Wayspot the “Waxhaw Flyers All Star Cheer” or the “DELICIOUS FOOD AND DRINKS”? I have no way to check whether the title has already been changed, and nothing to compare the photo to. I have no way to see what the Wayspot currently is. It looks like it should be the Adela’s place from Google Maps, which is what the review gives me to compare to.
Well afaik since title is “Waxhaw Flyers All Star Cheer” which means its not Adela’s. So if i see it, i will reject.
But does a cheer business have great food and drinks?
It seems to already be partially repurposed which makes it more of a mess than the initial import was.
So, I took a look on Street View, and there used to be a Waxhaw Flyers All Star Cheer in this shopping center. Back in March 2018, it was next to the Pizza Hut on the west side, but June 2023 shows it now being Palmetto Family Hearing Center.
As for Adela’s Mexican Kitchen, it doesn’t appear on Street View, but appears to be in the old 701 Main Restaurant space, on the east side. 701 on Street View is listed as permanently closed, but doesn’t show on satellite view unless you search for it.
So yes, I would say that someone is trying to repurpose this Power Spot for a place that does exist there, but it really should be removed since the cheer business no longer exists there. If they want a Wayspot for the restaurant, they should nominate it, as it does appear to be a local restaurant.
We should not be getting these to review.
I cant see a beauty salon here, so its probably inaccurate. Likely sfprp. But I cant do anything about it other than choose to accept or reject the edits
I didn’t know how to handle this. What I wanted to do is flag it for potential sfprp/probably not existing. Maybe we could get some guidance from staff? I ended up selecting neither text change and “can’t find the location”
Being this is a title and location edit, you do have the Report button, so you can report it for abuse. Photo edits don’t have the Report button, so if I had this salon in review, I most likely would have used the Report button and explained the issue.
I did click the report button, to look at options available, but it wasnt really abuse since its not a wayfarer that put (what I assume is) a home salon on the map, that was the Go team. So I decided not to as I didnt think the editor deserved to get in trouble
I would have still reported it. Even though it’s a Power Spot edit, I think Wayfarer staff would be able to pass info along to PoGo staff in regards to the Power Spot and that it should be looked into. And if the edit suggested is inaccurate, that should be looked into, as what if this submitter is submitting other inaccurate edits?
Maybe I should have been clearer. I wish my screenshot hadnt cut off on the review and showed the options!
The spot itself appears inaccurate. So I dont think the title matters. The edit was whether the house number was in the title or not - super small edit. And I couldn’t tell which of the seemingly sfprp houses it belonged on, but I also didn’t think that mattered. Hence why I didnt think the person doing the edits deserved any blame.
But I guess all this confusion on my side is why it would be beneficial to have a statement from staff as to what to do
I’d still report, especially if I think there is an inaccuracy with the Wayspot/Power Spot.
Is it wrong to try to update the imported data to the real one because it was imported incorrectly? It is natural to erase the name of an old store on a map and write the name of a new store. However, in Wayfarer, it is a punishable act. How absurd! I don’t want to send report.
The only ones that I have submitted title edits for are for those that are for the same business. For example, there are Power Spots that pop up from time to time at a certain bank branch where I live, but they had the old name, one that they haven’t used for around 12 years. It’s the same business, they just changed their name.
If I find a Power Spot import that doesn’t exist at the location listed anymore, I request removal. This was the case for an area that has been redeveloped in the last 3 years, but Power Spots were popping up for the former KMart/Sears Appliance stores that were there, but closed in 2019. The new development contains a small shopping center, currently with only a pharmacy in it, a car wash, a senior apartment building, and the housing agency behind the apartment building (a Starbucks will open later this year). At no time did I ever think I should try to repurpose one of the Power Spots for the now non-existing KMart/Sears for the pharmacy, but instead, I had them removed.
@NianticAaron what is the recommend way for players and reviewers to handle changed businesses that are Powerspots?
Since they don’t meet Wayfarer criteria and they aren’t Wayspots, do they need to be handled by the he same way as Wayfarer Criteria or should they be changed with businesses?
I would not suggest trying to repurpose. This may have repercussions on their account. They can reach out to the team using the removal webform. They will review the case and make necessary adjustments if needed.
They should be handled the same way as Wayfarer criteria.
What does that mean with an edit for a location that is on sfprp or doesnt appear to exist?
The person submitting the edit isn’t responsible for putting this item here, so should I be reporting them for this?
They should be reported for removal.
Correct, but that shouldn’t be repurposed.
