Yeah, I don’t think this is a safe location, as I do see on Street View that cars are allowed on this street, and you can see some parked in front of the houses.
Did you request removal on unsafe pedestrian grounds, or something else?
It was indeed a report abuse. I still have lots of wayspots in the area that don’t meet any criteria and can be reported so usually I provide little evidence since I don’t think it’s necessary which such an obvious case.
The team that reviews abuse reports only focusses on the abuse aspect. They are overwhelmed with reports of Wayfarer abuse. So, they usually do not review removal requests. Though I must admit that they should have been more clearer (I know I’m using two comparative degree words) in their response.
I have had tons of wayspot removed through this way even if there was no abuse. I thought it would be okay using this method, because of this note of what you should report:
“The wayspots/nominations that do not exist in the location or blatantly do not match our eligibility or acceptance criterias”
Could you clarify why this is mentioned if the team for this only focuses on abuse. For example the wayspot mentioned here did not meet any acceptance criteria and was not safely accesible.
I would have used the abuse form to report this as well.
In game reports rarely are accepted. Now the abuse form doesn’t work unless the abuse is “blatant.” I am done reporting things that should be reported.
Have you tried to use that webform? I have used it. The questions do not match anything I need to report. The acknowledgement email asks for my credentials as property owner, even if I state that I am not, and if I make the mistake of replying with the fact that I am not the property owner as I stated on the form, the case is closed.
I have had similar experiences with this form in the past. I reported a wayspot that was on the boat launch ramp for a RNLI station (the RNLI are effectively an emergency service who performs rescues at sea) for obstructing emergency services. The person who replied to me repeatedly refused to remove the wayspot as I was not the property owner. To my knowledge the wayspot still exists nearly 18 months after my report. I can’t remember the location of it to double check if it is still there, as it isn’t listed in the email correspondence I have, but I do have the ticket number associated with the report.
oh wait! i did make a note of this one! the ticket number was 24412029
i made the mistake of replying to the acknowledgement email and the final email in the resulting chain said that “we do not accept any invalid portal requests through emails.” this was in 2023, when ingress portals were a part of wayfarer.
i used the reporting abuse form only after that, until seaprincess convinced me to try the property manager form again. but i think you know that i can’t stand not being able to select options that actually apply to what i am trying to do.
I think most us agree that "report abuse” form works the best.
They usually give a clear response and is handled within a matter of hours or maybe a day. Even when I thought there was no abuse considered, some of them still had it.
The other form is very confusing for most players since they think it’s only for property owners, especially when you get the automated reply if you could confirm credentials.
