Additional Information:
Dear Niantic appeal reviewers, please review seriously even if it is a language other than English. Please search for the title on Google and translate it. Please translate images on Google, etc. Please.
There is not a category for appealing an appeal decision. Only rarely are appeals decisions overturned, and those that are offer a lot of evidence that the appeals decision was wrong. We would need to see the original nomination along with the appeals decision as stated on your contributions page in order to understand what has been submitted and rejected and rejected again on appeal if you would like to share screenshots.
Members of the community here like myself cannot overturn an appeal decision, but we can add our voices to yours if we agree it was a bad one, or offer ways to improve the nomination if you would like to try to resubmit it.
This is the park that was rejected by users and the Niantic Appeal reviewer. I don’t know why it is labeled “development”, but the hyperlinks in the OP show that there are many parks with the same name.
Thanks for the correction! This is a completely different location. Initially looking at it I did not see the public access as the road where the map pin is many feet above the location. I’ll look more
Thank you for your advice.
It’s a shame that there is no category for re-appealing appeals. I think a re-appeal board is necessary.
Did Wayfinder receive training? The reviews vary too much in accuracy.
Emily reviews very quickly, but they are sloppy and inaccurate. They cannot judge truly unique items.
Niantic appeal reviewers are fast at their work, but do they really translate and read Japanese? Do they translate the text in the photos? The quality of the mapping depends on them. Please review with passion that is commensurate with the effort put in by the submitter.
How many months should it take to map a simple park? It’s ridiculous.
I don’t agree here, as re-appeals could be abused, especially by those that know their nomination doesn’t meet criteria to try and see what they can get passed the appeals team. We all can appeal a rejected nomination once, and it’s quite rare that the appeals team makes mistakes. If they do, people are welcome to post here in the forums, and in these rare occasions, staff may take another look. In this case, i don’t know if staff will take another look, as improvements can be made.
One thing I will note about this is that it’s very hard to see any type of park in your supporting photos. You just show where the sign is, but I can’t tell if the park is at the same level as the road, or if it’s the area below it with the trees, grass, and fence. Here’s that area on Street View, with where the sign is above circled:
If the park is below the sign on the lower road, is there anything there that could be used in the main photo to place mark it? Is there a sign down on that level, or anything in the park that would work better? You mention there’s a bench in the park in the description, so maybe that would be better to use.
If not, maybe better supporting info noting that the park is below the sign on the lower road, and that the sign for the park is on the upper road, along with a supporting photo looking down into the park.
See, that’s the additional context needed. I would have never seen the bench if it wasn’t pointed out; it’s not easy to see on Street View, and this doesn’t look like your typical park, so the context is very important. Thus, why I think you should resubmit with additional context.
I think an initial look at the area in the photo most would consider this an alleyway with a simple bench. It is not what most wayfinders from outside your area would expect to see described as a park.
Sorry if that makes you annoyed but all of us can only draw on our own experience. But you can explain so we can learn and understand more.
I am wondering if this the equivalent of what in the U.K. we would refer to as an urban pocket park. These are small urban areas which have been landscaped to create an outdoor social space normally with some sort of greenery.
Is there a website that describes this sort of park? That would be useful in order to learn about how these might appear.
Hey. I appreciate the replies very much, but I am not looking for an argument. I just wanted to file a complaint against the rejected candidate because I have no intention of going to this location anymore. If the park’s nameplate is not evidence, then the only way is to contact city hall, but I will not spend any more time on this candidate. I have learned that a park that does not look good will not be registered as a Wayspot. So that’s it.
Thanks
I don’t think everything has to look great or fit in with other cultural expectations so was looking for just something a little more so that the Wayfarer Team could also see that context more clearly.
This might be a case of where you’ll have to rename it and try a couple more times as the pocket park that i got accepted took 2 times to get accepted.
