My nomination was rejected. I suspect this was because of the outdated street view/map used to find the location. I appealed this nomination as this, I think, is an important venue for a small community like ours. Our neighborhood currently is holding a basketball competition here. I also resubmitted this with updated pictures.
Good day and welcome to the forum!
While the use of the court shows eligibility, presentation also is a factor for the review process. Your supporting photo can be utilized better, showing and specifying the identifiable landmarks so reviewers can cross-check.
What do you mean specifying identifiable landmarks?
Because this was formerly unutilised land, and the maps show this as a vacant land, so maybe this was one of the factors why it was rejected. Should I include the street as a whole in the picture?
Its better if you include any tall building thats visible from satelite in surrounding photo. It will help confirm its location. So far i am still not convinced about this location
If its hard to get any landmark, try getting gps tagged photo (gps coordinate will be shown in photo)
Why not try taking photo in this angle (your basket ball court should be showing)
Can you look again at this nomination in wayfarer to see what the rejection reason is, just in case it isn’t a problem with the location. If no reason shows up, refresh the page and look again.
He ald appeal it
I appealed it AND resubmitted another batch of photos.
We don’t know what the rejection reason was, since the op hasn’t said. Only that they suspect it is the location. This may well be the case, but the actual rejection reason might show something else wrong. The appeal appears to be still in progress based on what was said above.
Yep, I forgot to screenshot the rejection although I remember like a location issue
That rejection seems unfair, as the plaque does appear to exist on google streetview, but I can understand what caused the rejections.
if you want to resubmit, I recommend two things.
(1) The main photo needs to be just of the plaque without the stuff around it.
(2) Use the plaque on the left-hand side of the entrance as this is visible on current google streetview images. If you still want to use the one on the right-hand side, notice that it is hidden by another sign on streetview so can only be seen by going further back in time - you need to assist reviewers with this in the supporting information.
When you are nominating, put yourself in reviewer shoes. Can you find the wayspot candidate “easily” based on your nomination. You need to assist reviewer so that there is no room for rejection. If you can see wayspot candidate in particular street view location or year, please tell reviewer. It will help reduce reviewer load and increase your nomination chance to be accepted. Many reviewer dont want to spend too much time on reviewing, if they cant find it after looking a while, they might just reject it and it will be submitter fault if submitter didnt put in extra effort to make things clear.
So yeah, appeal rejected. The plaque which I nominated lacks historical uniqueness. Oh well, so much for the historic aspect of the public market that was once hailed as the largest roofed public market in Asia. just a normal inauguration plaque
I could take pictures of all the plaques in this public market from the oldest 1960s plaque to this 1993 plaque. I don’t know what the reviewers want.
I believe you can change the picture to remove unnecesary background and resubmit with better context. The onus is on submitter to provide evidence that that its not normal inaguration plague.
Did you mention everything that you talk about here in the nomination ? Dont expect reviewer to do extra google check
You’re submitting the brown plaque with historical information, right? Maybe people think you’re submitting the green mass-produced street sign looking thing.
Your description would be improved by including more of the historical information written on the plaque.
