Rejection appeal - One Day sign

Looks interesting. Who accepted this possible wayspot with a person in the wayspot image?

I would not have submitted a photo with a person in it. I would have cropped the photo to be more centered on the art. BUT, the person isn’t prominent, and that photo can be accepted. I know old versions of the help statements read to reject for a person in the photo, but I think every place that said that has been corrected now. Let me know if you find a place that still says to reject for a person in the photo with no qualifiers.

I’ll be real, I don’t actually know how the appeal result was changed.

I had initially submitted it as is and the result was simply that it didn’t meet the Waypoint criteria. A rather vague response, so I further elaborated the nature of the art in my appeal.

That came back with another rejection saying that it was just a road sign, so I brought it here to get some humans to look at it. As far as I could tell, it seemed like my submission didn’t even make it to community review, and despite my detailing, most of my appeal was ignored. Nonetheless, no appeal could be made because I already made one.

So, just brought it here, made the same points I already have, then I suddenly get an email saying the submission was approved, even my contribution page changed it to Accepted. I didn’t make a new appeal, it just…happened.

Edit: as far as I can tell as well, humans in the photo weren’t affecting the result. I think the rejection would have specified that was the problem, rather than “other”.

It seems someone from the Staff saw your case and checked again the nomination + all the information shared in the topic and, as a gesture of goodwill, decided to revert their decission and approve the nomination. Similar cases happened in the past in the actual and in the past forum.

“Wayfarer criteria” as a rejection reason means that the nomination was rejected by Machine Learning (ML) before it went into voting. From what others have been saying, that could be because it detected a person in the main photo.

Anyway, if you read between my previous post and your response, you will see that @cyndiepooh has provided an explanation of what has happened.
