Rejection criteria giggle

I just had a nomination rejection. And two reasons stood out as being really annoying

Private property / Farmland. Well google map/aerial view etc clearly shows it in a city called a park with numerous other POI. Even street view, and sphere exist. And these maps correlate to pin in nomination. I have reviewed noms in this park and the wayfarer map lists waypoints all over to check as duplicates. So who knows why this rejection criteria was chosen

But you know maybe - they look at the photo and saw a tree

Then the other rejection was misplaced location. Nope maps, wayfarer map and supporting photo all show not misplaced. And again the review process would have shown all the other POIs in the area. Including several metres from the nomination.

Anyway . I had a spare nomination so submitted that and upgraded it. Just because I was cranky. As I am that sure it will get through I think it will be a waste…

And then appealed the rejection with enough evidence to sink a battleship. Which in hindsight double wastes my nomination upgrade. BUT I wanted to show the appeal panel that the rejection was wrong. That said — my back up nomination does have better photos. Hmmmmm

Now I always bang on about evidence and backing yourself. Always. Provide enough evidence to sink a battleship in the first instance  And I did not do that. Note to self.

And I really get why some people get confused about the rejection information they receive.

Just had the same kind of rejection. A sculpture on a wall of a on building with business car parking spots in front. Got denied for private property / farmland. And as seasonal / not unique. Despite being a unique object and visible on google maps. I laughed my butt off, as I do not need thr spot for the game that I play. Will not waste an appeal, nor re-upload.

I have had so many urban submissions rejected as “private farm or residence” and I think this stems from the fact that the review UI just shows “private property” as one of the rejection criteria under the “Is it appropriate?” option. When this is selected, the submitter will see “private farm or residence” as a rejection reason which is often nonsense. Of course, we all know that private property alone is not a reason for rejection as long as “some community” has access to it, but this being an option for reviewers in my opinion confuses them.

Could we get an update to the UI here that is less confusing for reviewers @NianticAaron? The “Private Property” option should be renamed.

Spare nomination that I upgraded was accepted in super quick time.

Appeal in consideration. It will either be accepted as valid rejection (sigh) or most likely now as a duplicate. Which is fine…

But it makes you wonder. Can reviewers be reviewed?

When I (you) raise a valid concern about the validity of the rejection and be proved right does anything happen to the reviewer.

Thanks @moyeric @b00jl5yi7g and @Mezzoflauder for your thoughts. Appreciated.

Happy wayfaring
