Discussion about new rejection reasons

Hi
Here you can discuss the collection of new rejection reasons.

Here is one of the other threads with some examples already.

Also, a little confusing as to why there’s a post for discussion and a post for collection.

Thanks for the first two examples and for showing me where I’ve been not clear enough
Now you can see how my master plan is

I have appealled so don’t have the exact wording.

The 1st one I got stated that a 180 year old building was not permanant !!! so not a good start for me :frowning:

Maybe time to split the “Permanent and Distinct” selection in to 2 options.

I can beat that. I had something from the 1400s show as temporary/not distinct. The appeals team agreed  had to resubmit

Here’s 3 rejection examples I can see.

Seems generic business was replaced.

I think they are still adjusting the reasons so this topic may be premature. When we first noticed the changes, this rejected view bench was showing this on March 27 (my rejection reasons look slightly different because I have the rejections plus tool installed)

I think the original rejection was “Temporary/Seasonal or Not distinct,” but I didn’t seem to have made a note of it anywhere, because why would I?

But now no rejection reasons will come up for that one, no matter how many times I refresh.

This one was definitely rejected as Generic business and now shows this:

So it does look like they have changed the “Generic business” rejection to more broadly indicate that it was considered generic with the statement “The submission lacks uniqueness or historical and cultural meaning.”

Thanks! I’ve added them to the list

The submission lacks uniqueness or historical and cultural meaning has also been used for other rejection reasons under Appropriate. Someone nominated a mural at a fire station, and that was the rejection reason; it most likely was rejected under obstructs emergency services.

These are 3 of my most recent ones and none of them make any sense.

I got a warning for the noticeboard aswell. Lovely

Thanks @DTrain2002. Your post makes it obvious that the former reasons are unknown for us.
I’ll stay on the pure collection of findings

Thanks :hugs: Added to the list

Wow, an abusive noticeboard? Impressive  I hope the warning is removed.

This warning is odd, and has even been given for mismatched location. Someone else got a warning for mismatched location with this same rejection reason listed in Contribution Management. They nominated new POIs at an apartment complex that aren’t on satellite/Street View yet. I find this concerning, as they nominated in good faith.

I was given a very generic reason for my rejection and I’m actually trying to understand what i can change to try to get it accepted, or at least understand why it was rejected.

the rejection reason is on your contributions page (Niantic Wayfarer), not the email

since this is an “our team” decision, i am going to predict that the rejection reason is something about “automated process”

if you would like feedback on the rejected nomination to discuss how it might possibly be improved, you should start a new topic in Nomination Support showing us screenshots of your submission

The email i got said because it was misplaced. But I litterally stood infront of the noticeboard and pressed that locate button when nominating in pokemon go.

The one in the bottom right

“The submission is on private property which is not publicly accessible”

So are they changing the rules because private property should not be a rejection reason. This is going to lead to a lot of unnecessary rejections because of the confusion it’ll cause

Private property can be a rejection reason if it’s a single family private residential property or farmland. That has been clarified here:

It has been clarified again and again however I agree that this wording needs to be described better as it is very confusing.

It feels like a step back from the guidance included in the tooltip.

Both “private property” and “publicly accessible” have niche interpretation in Wayfarer that might not be reflected to its general, everyday usage. Combining it into one issue does not make sense.
