While I understand that I used the wrong workflow, in my defense there is not already one for reporting and making changes to POI not accessible in-game. Speaking of that reason, I was very clear in my message that I have no access to make these changes because the POI is not in-game, but for some reason the staff member behind the chat assumed that it was and closed my ticket on those grounds.
There’s a lot of old outdated POI in the area and I’d like to help clean it up, so I’d like to appeal this and get the bookshop POI removed.
Hi @heterodont
You want this bookstore removed, because it changed it’s location, but you can’t do this report, because the bookstore isn’t ingame.
Did I understand you right?
I considered it originally, but I realized that the photo is pretty distinctly of the old location (the old building even still has the polka dot paintjob) and I would just be carrying innacurate information over. Additionally, I think the new location has a POI somewhere but i couldn’t be sure, so I decided not to risk making a duplicate
Ah ok, thanks for reply
My first thought was also why not moving to it’s (now) correct location.
I won’t bother about the distinct building, as the POI is the book and giftstore and not the fassade of the building. What if they had painted it over while theire operating from this location?
But I think you’re on the right track - new location, possibly a new set up, who knows? The new POI should have it’s own review, if it not already exist.
In truth, Niantic has not explained to us how we are allowed to modify a given situation.
They make angry noises about ‘repurposing’ a Wayspot without revealing what they think the original purpose was.
Until they explain more thoroughly, it seems we are only safe making the original nomination more accurate, since Niantic can claim that the building, or the staff, or the inventory, or the hours it’s open, or the owner(s) were the important bit that were responsible for it being accepted, before.
