Ok so here’s the story - I nominated a statue at a courtyard outside of a hospital as a waypoint, and then it got rejected as a duplicate. Thought that was bizarre since I didn’t see the waypoint where it belongs, so I asked my roommate, who was able to pull up that the spot on a database and showed me it already exists in database - but like, it’s marked as being across the street from the courtyard, inside the hospital building for some reason.
He told me how to submit a support ticket to help chat to move the waypoint to where it belongs, so I did and submitted the correct location to the help desk.
The help desk rejected the request, I guess since the first time I didn’t include pictures, so we went and took GPS tagged photos showing the accurate GPS location and tried again. The help desk has now twice said no to updating the waypoint to where it actually is.
The correct coordinates are in the photo where my roommate is basically standing on top of the statue plaque:
28.598297, -81.326004
What is going on here, is there some kind of rule or exception I don’t now about for why the team is insisting on keeping this waypoint at the incorrect location?
Then someone must have seen this post and updated it already, that’s not where it was when I made the report. The coordinates it was at were across the street inside of the hospital.
Here’s the diff from the coords it was at when I reported versus where I took the pics.
I have absolutely had this happen where they just took care of something without posting here that they did. Glad it is fixed! And welcome to the forum!
That’s incorrect. I see that the changes were made 5 days ago based on your request. You created another request yesterday for the same Wayspot. Since, help chat had already moved it to correct location, they correctly rejected your second edit request.
Five days? I feel like something is wrong then, it doesn’t appear updated on the game map, that’s definitely why I was confused. Is there something to do about that, or do we just never get to use this waypoint?
How did the OP get two negative responses from Help Desk, if they in fact accepted and acted upon one of the requests?
Somehow, although five hours ago you informed us that OP’s changes had been implemented, you followed up to say that the changes would not appear in PoGo due to a request from the property owner.
Did that request arrive in the last five hours, or after the Help Desk’s unavowed change, or was it already in place before OP got involved?
I just don’t understand how (mis)information just sort of trickles out.
I don’t see any misinformation. The Wayspot was moved, not removed. The property owner requested the Pokestop be removed, not the Wayspot. Maybe we weren’t all using the correct words for the question, but I know many examples where property owners have had Poke things removed but left the Ingress ones. Or had raids turned off at gyms but left them. Or had a gym reverted to a Pokestop when the gym was causing unwanted crowds but the Pokestop hadn’t.
The help desk denied OP’s move request twice, after the review process had flagged their nomination as a duplicate.
The help desk rejected the request, I guess since the first time I didn’t include pictures, so we went and took GPS tagged photos showing the accurate GPS location and tried again. The help desk has now twice said no to updating the waypoint to where it actually is.
Staff indicated that the first request was acted upon, so the second one was rightly rejected.
Finally, staff indicated the Wayspot was blocked from PoGo.
Thats what the OP said, but we never saw any evidence of “twice” perhaps they are misremembering or misread… or just assumed, since they didnt see the changes reflected intheir game of choice.
Okay hang on let’s not get into an argument, I am wrong all the time.
What happened is:
(1) The first response said it was accepted, but it didn’t appear in-game, so I thought it didn’t happen. This has happened before - getting told it was fixed, but it wasn’t fixed.
(2) I submitted it again with better photos thinking that would fix it, got told it was already in the right spot, and got confused.
(3) Came here and made a post, got told it was already in the right spot, was even more confused.
Now here we are at (4) with being told that it was removed by the property owner, but that’s confusing as well because
(4a) There is an active wayspot that this one was overlapping with at the old, inaccurate location.
(4b) The new, accurate location is not inside the hospital building.
If it’s never going to show up it’s never going to show up, but I definitely feel like something is off here considering that the property owner did not report the " Bronze Bible - Deuteronomy 31:6" pokestop that actually is inside the building where this one was overlapping. Before I made the help request they were literally on top of each other.
Is the location blacklisted, or is the waypoint blacklisted?
The location has another waypoint at it in the same spot.
The waypoint was at the wrong location when the hospital reported it.
I guess I don’t understand why it would never be set to appear in-game when the location is obviously OK with the hospital and the waypoint isn’t actually where they reported it to be removed in the first place.
Regarding the second part of your message, we are unable to share any details of our conversation with the property owner in question. Thanks for understanding!
I was going to suggest you contact the hospital to ask if they would have it unblocked since you have had the location corrected, but that might lead to them asking for the other one to be blocked, too. I have been known to send emails to places like that to let them know about a potentially dangerous game location that doesn’t meet removal criteria just so they are aware, and you might could do the opposite. But maybe it is best to just leave it alone at this point.
