Removal of a POI, in order to upload an updated version

Please provide:

Hello all!

Please can I seek some advice around the POI in my screenshots?

The original name for the stop is still in use, as Redruth Library. However, the library moved about 3 years ago and the building was empty for a while. The building has now been repurposed as a creatives hub.

I tried to update title, photo and description of said stop. Funnily enough, the photo was accepted, but title and description weren’t.

So I thought it best to request the POI was removed and submitted again. But no, the first time it was rejected, so I attempted again, making great effort to highlight the fact the library is longer there. As you can see, that was unsuccessful too.

So my question is: What the heck am I supposed to do? People wont accept the edits and they wont accept that the POI no longer exists. As well as submitting a correct entry for the site, I’d like to submit the new library too, but my faith in humanity is so low that I believe they’d mark my new submission as a duplicate, even though they’re about 200m apart.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum!

This does get tricky when stuff has moved around. I think the original Wayspot which was approved was the “library” and not the building it is in, if that makes sense. Trying to edit a Wayspot to change it to what it is there now is “repurposing” the Wayspot, and Niantic can consider that abuse. So if the library moved, the correct thing to do would be to request a location edit. You can do that through Help Chat Niantic Wayfarer and give them evidence of the new location.

If the Library already has another Wayspot at the current location, then removal of this old one would be the best option. I don’t see a Wayspot where Google is showing me the library, though.(50.2328645426093, -5.227212579075105) so I would try help chat first. If that is denied, then you can appeal this rejection in Wayspot Appeals with evidence the library is no longer there.
