Renomination of a Wayspot

I know that even if a Wayspot nomination is accepted it may not appear in all games. I was curious though… Let’s say I nominated a Wayspot and it’s accepted, but ultimately does not appear in Pokemon Go. Now, what happens if a second person, nominates that same Wayspot through Pokemon Go (because they can’t see that it’s already an active Wayspot on Lightship)?! Does Wayfarer immediately recognize that the Wayspot is already uploaded to Lightship or does it still go through the approval process, as if it were a brand new submission?

Wayfarer doesn’t “recognise it” in an auto detect kind of way.

Reviewers will see that it already exists in the database on review though and mark it as a Duplicate.

Also, they should be able to see it when they nominate on the map.

These orange pins are Wayspots not used by Pokémon GO. Some will not have a photo and those are Power Spots which wouldn’t be considered duplicates in Wayfarer.

On a personal note, I hate how it confuses things with the Power Spots. They should be marked differently in my view.

The AI bot has marked one of my spots as a duplicate before, so I think that Emily can do it as well.

I had one marked duplicate early on, but hadn’t seen reports of that lately. Ty for letting us know it still does.

You can tell by it not going into community or in house voting that this was an ML rejection.

(This was the nomination that taught me just how little area the nomination map covers to show existing wayspots. I did check from the parking lot, but didn’t see it.)

That makes sense, thanks! I’ve seen the orange markers in the past, but didn’t necessarily recognize what they were.

I live in a small neighborhood and am the only one who nominates spots (I’ve brought us from 5 stops and 2 gyms to 17 stops and 5 gyms). Some of the orange markers didn’t correlate with anything I had submitted though, and that was adding to my confusion. Considering I’ve seen so many Power Spots auto-populate at home businesses, that would help explain those unknowns.

If Power Spots aren’t considered a duplicate nomination, does that mean that something that is a Power Spot can be submitted as a new Wayspot Nomination?

Yes, as long as it is an import and not a Wayspot used as a Power Spot, and the thing that’s a Power Spot meets eligibility and acceptance criteria.

So say a church has become a Power Spot from the import. It has no photo, and there’s no “proper” Wayspot on the church. That could be nominated and would not be marked as a Duplicate as reviewers wouldn’t see the “improper” Power Spot in review.

As I said, I hate these imports and how it makes it more complex to explain.

Short answer…yes
If its just imported powerspot, you can nominate it.
Imported powerspot is not considered wayspot
