I have submitted a total of 4 different requests for pokestops over the past 2 years. Every single one was denied. Every.single.one. Oddly enough, in towns in other states, I see existing pokestops marking the exact same business/building that I’d tried submitting—for example, I submitted a request at a 7Brew coffee shop just recently built near me; it was denied. Yet, on vacation this week, I visited no less than three other 7Brews all with existing Pokestops. What is the problem? Am I specifically being blacklisted?
Welcome to the forums.
1: Do not use what is already in game as what will be accepted now.
2: If you want more advice, please screen grab your full nomination.
3: Coffee shops are regularly accepted but the way that you nominate can effect. It is usually harder to get chain ones through than independents.
Good luck.
Unless you have identified yourself in the nomination, which is a rejection reason itself under “Submitter identifiable,” then there is no way for any community reviewer to know who has submitted a nomination. If you were under any restriction from NianticScopely, you would be unable to submit nominations.
Business like cafe might be eligible but you will need to convince reviewer that it fit wayfarer category. Some chain business are harder to accept
6 posts were split to a new topic: Many rejected nominations
Some people often claim their nomination fit wayfarer criteria when it isnt or they missplaced it for game purpose.
If you truly believe your nomination fit wayfarer criteria, appeal it.
Some of my nomination also got rejected, but i appealed those which i am sure and get it approved.
Businesses are very hard to get accepted. “Generic business” is a rejection reason.
Have you read the Wayfarer Criteria pages?
If there is something that you are thinking about appealing or resubmitting, you could post screenshots of the nomination for advice on the candidate.
I do understand that rejection after rejection is frustrating, and hope we can help.
Hi @Starstrike0811
Welcome to the forum ![]()
I understand your frustration very well ![]()
You’re playing Pokémon Go and while you’re out there you can see all these existing pokestops and gyms.
Before I’ve reached my level to participate I thought that my first submission will be the big stone in neighbours front yard ![]()
It was a shock to understand that there’s a bunch of rules behind the curtain.
My first nominations were rejected too although I thought I’ve understood everything.
My game changer was to review and read here on the forum (and ask questions). After a short while you’ll get a feeling for what is worth to be a wayspot.
In general if users come to the forum we suggest to post screenshots of their rejected nomination so we can give feedback as a community. That could lead to an improvement which ends in acceptance.
Or you could share your general location and we can look around and suggest potential candidates.
Thank you so much, everyone—these are all very, very helpful responses. Thank you for your kindness and objectivity and for not just flaming me for feeling a bit disgruntled. You have inspired me—I will do some more reading and studying and give it another shot. If I continue to strike out, I will certainly circle back here and see if you guys can give me some additional specific guidance.
Truly, thank you so much. ![]()

It would be nice to read from you from time to time ![]()
Happy exploring
I see you mentioned several other stops for the same type of coffee shop. This suggests that it is a chain and these often get rejected. If you happen to have any other local or family owned coffee shops in your area, try submitting those instead.
Try to find something unique about them, do they display local art, serve something unique, run events etc.
This helps make them stand out and could give you a better chance of getting them approved. Hope that helps.
Also, if you have a submission that you would like some advice on before submitting, visit the Nomination Support section of the forum and you can get advice there on any improvements that could be added to a submission to help it succeed.
Best of luck with your future submissions and don’t let a few rejections get you down. ![]()
Personally, this is what I believe is the best part about the forums.
You came here “rightly” disgruntled, you received several messages of advice. You took these onboard and I can see us hearing again from you when you get your 1st Accept, then again when you have turned your local area in to a “pokestop paradise”. ![]()
Keep going. Maybe re-visit the previous refusals with posts in “Nomination Support” and you may get some of them through on the 2nd attempt, if not you may learn why they where not accepted.
Good luck in the future…
You nailed it, @SlimboyFat71! Yes, you are exactly right—I did initially arrive a bit “rightly disgruntled” (well-stated!
) You guys truly did turn things around for me by responding with kind, constructive advice rather than zeroing in on the potentially ‘petulant child throwing a tantrum’ kind of tone that I will admit that my initial post sort of implied. When I later reread my post, well, I mean, I probably would have flamed myself for sounding like a whiney-butt! Lol So, truly - kudos to you all for having patience, especially in the ‘easily-triggered’ kind of world that we currently find ourselves in!
This is definitely a situation where I was at fault for not simply having done my homework to begin with. No one to blame but myself!
Thank you all again for being such nice, helpful and PATIENT folks! ![]()
