"Report PokéStop Issue" now has "Not suitable for AR experiences" and (Optional) Supporting Statement

“Pokestop issue” is not “removal criteria”. We do not know what is supposed to happen.

It doesn’t say stop/gym issue, and it’s possible the new options will roll out for Ingress. I never said stop/gym issues is now a removal reason.

AR scanning issues appear to have been added to PoGo for removal requests. Please see the image the OP posted. “Not suitable for AR experience” has been added, and yes, we’re not quite sure yet how it’s to be used.

Not all Wayspots can be AR scanned, for a variety of reasons. Niantic hasn’t fully confirmed anything about this new option yet.

It says Report Pokéstop Issue on the Contribute to this Pokéstop page, and then again on the page with the options. It’s literally in the screenshot above…

We don’t know if that option will lead to removals. There are many reasons that Niantic might want this information, and I doubt they’ll remove Wayspots because they aren’t AR scannable given that they have not asked us to stop submitting Wayspots that aren’t AR scannable.

Just going to leave this here. I never said for sure that’s what the AR scanning option is for.

And Ingress players are wondering if these options will be added to their game, not just PoGo. We all know that the games use game terms, but it really is reporting Wayspot issues.

I’m getting tired of people not fully reading posts and making assumptions that aren’t very good.

I’m just going to leave this here.

My advice to you is to be more careful about what you say in your posts.

I do not appreciate this. Why am I being picked on?

I feel hurt, I feel as if I’m made to look dumb.

@moderators @Ambassadors Could someone help here? I’m not feeling comfortable speaking in this thread anymore.

And an Ambo wakes up ……

A general reminder to everyone to remain respectful to each other.
Wayfarer is all about judgement calls and opinions, and discussing topics. So there will be differences of opinion.
And also we like speculate about what things will mean.

It shouldn’t mean a 3rd party has to interrupt breakfast :joy:

I see that the screen above (with radio buttons and text box) is titled “Report Pokestop Issue”.

The corresponding Ingress screen is titled “REPORT INVALID PORTAL”.

I’d bet that Pogo used to say “invalid”.

And I’ll bet that when “unsuitable for AR” is added to Ingress, they’ll change the screen title to remove “invalid”.

By the way, “Not suitable for AR experience” isn’t the only report option that doesn’t necessarily mean the wayspot should be removed. Another option is “Abusive content,” which might only require a text correction or a photo replacement.

Yes it previously said invalid.

Ok, so I submitted 3 removal requests last week, 1 for a theatre that left the building they were in and a new business is there (permanently removed), and 2 at a cemetery (sensitive location). I used the new comment box to explain each.

I’m thinking that the text boxes aren’t being looked at, what comments are being left, as both of the Wayspots at the cemetery were rejected earlier today. I’m still waiting to hear back on the theatre, but a simple check of Google Maps or an online search would have found the cemetery in question. Boh I’m appealing now, as they seem to have been nominated under false names and info, too.

I’m not surprised it took this long, since Power Spot reports are making things a little crazy right now, but still disappointed. What’s the use of a comment box if comments aren’t being read?

I also used the new pogo format to report two murals in bathrooms as sensitive and explained the location in the comment box. I also don’t think the text box was read. I also have both appealed.

The other bathroom mural I reported through Ingress, since it was not live in Pogo. That one was accepted, but I reported it as “permanently removed” since it was also clearly misplaced.

I reported a painted fire hydrant that isn’t painted anymore twice and was rejected both times.

I reported it again with the comment box, indicating that the hydrant was no longer painted, and it was removed.

Streetview is the same, so the text box is the only thing that changed. It might come down to who reviewed the report, and whether they read the text box portion of the submission.

That’s not accurate. The information is read every time. It may be that the reviewer could not validate the information or did not agree with it (not related to this specific case).

Well, Google Maps has this cemetery listed as such, and their website can be found with a web search.

As for the theatre, I have heard back for it, and it’s being removed. The current business there is also listed on Google Maps.

I submitted two reports of “Not suitable for AR experience” because they are changing art displays, which I explained in the comment box. Both were rejected today. So not looking the same every time you visit may not be what that is for. And I still don’t know what it is for.
