If the wayspots themselves are ineligible (do not exist, on schools, single-family private residential property, strictly not eligible by Niantic standards) and someone is selectively only reporting the gyms, this isn’t genuine abuse.
it’s morally dubious to only report the gyms if that is happening, but also bear in mind that the new gym (if one happens) is selected at random, so the benefit of doing this is limited.
Maybe someone is reporting lots of ineligible wayspots but you are only noticed the gyms being removed. If this is the case, there is definitely no abuse.
actually he personal dm’ed me that he will remove it because he want’s to and few days later it got removed. No other pokestops or gym but only this place
Players are well within their rights to report Wayspots that they think violate our policies. We have checks in place against falsifying evidence.
No player can remove a Wayspot; they can only report it for review. Our team reviews the report and removes Wayspots that are in violation of our policies.
Well now because of the sync system a new gym has created which is actually a local temple, if he somehow reports it and remove it, what should I do? You can check for yourself this newly created gym is actually legitimate.
If you are worried, you could take various screenshots showing the gym, how it looks in Pogo, where it is on the Pogo map and the wayfarer map, plus actual photos of the temple. Put these in a named folder for easy access if needed.
Google streetview from October 2025 at that location doesn’t show this temple as far as I can tell. You can go to google maps yourself, go into streetview, find a view that shows this temple, click on Share and post the link here.
yes it was a pokestop that got converted into the gym today, earlier there was an another pokestop which was a gym that he reported and got it removed.
I am mentioning it because if someone does try to report this wayspot, it does not exist at the location given and is not visible anywhere on streetview. This makes it likely that a removal report would be accepted, when the correct action would be to move it 30m - but the appeal reviewer would have a very hard time establishing that.
Look at it this way. If I was an Niantic staff member reviewing a removal report for this wayspot (I am not and I don’t know their rules and procedures!!), I imagine I would look at streetview, note the google maps pin and see that the wayspot image does not match anything near to the google maps pin. I would then confirm the removal report because the google maps pin is clearly false and the wayspot doesn’t exist here.
Thanks for your help. So in conclusion, if someone wants to report it due to personal vendetta, I just have to accept it because, it technically doesn’t exist in that particular location.
