Welcome back to the forum! Without seeing the reason in removal request, I can only guess but it does not not appear that the position of the sign will interfere with the purpose of the firehouse in any way. The rejection reason is “obstructs emergency services”. Standing that far from the driveway, even by a group of players does not look like it would be a problem.
I have gotten things removed from the grounds of fire stations before that are not right next to the driveway. A fire station had some statues on one side of the building, but they were not by the driveway. I was able to get them removed without issue, just a photo taken of the area showing the entire station and statues.
May just want to wait to see what staff has to say.

Imagine someone pulling their car up on to that fire station driveway (supporting photo) in the darkness of night to flip the gym. And then the doors open and a fire truck and an ambulance needs to exit. Better safe than sorry.

The game tells you before you start playing to follow the rules of the real world and make sure you know what’s going on around you. So, one in a car would see the sign that says Do Not Enter Fire Exit and hopefully follow that real life sign and not enter the driveway. These are also laid out in the Player Guidelines and ToS, so if someone did park in the fire station driveway to raid a gym, they agreed to the ToS and guidelines and Niantic Scopely most likely won’t be held responsible for unlawful acts.

Let’s wait and see what the Wayfarer Teams response is. It may take a few days
Thanks for the appeal @ElizionK ,
We looked at this Wayspot again and stand by our decision to not retire the Wayspot. Thanks,
Thank you for response. I am still worried about obstructing emergency services here. Could you perhaps downgrade it to a stop and make another POI in the area the gym?
If you have safety concerns still, I would suggest that you contact the fire station and let them know the game location is there. If they want it removed or downgraded, they can send a property owner request.
