How do I reset my account?
It went to poor months ago overnight from excellent and never rebounded. I kept doing what I thought was an excellent job for a week or two but saw no change. I waited for that work to clear as advised. Most nominations have clearly been decided by now. No idea what happened and I haven’t contributed in months and don’t plan to with no in-game incentives for such a low rating.
I contacted support who said they were looking into it. Never heard back.
I requested account reset multiple times. Not sure if that’s even a function anymore.
I’m sure there are lots of us who would be happy to serve as a sounding board for you to see if your thoughts on criteria match the community’s. It can be hard to tell if you are the one out of sync or if your locals are out of sync. Maybe it is the people all around you reviewing poorly.
Do you remember to check for duplicates on the map? This can be hard to remember.
Do you reasonably verify that the item is really located where the person says it is?
Do you really think about how this item meets one of the 3 stated criteria (socialize, exercise, explore)?
Those are some of the basic “gut checks” we can all do to make sure we are keeping in step with proper reviewing.
I have many many duplicate agreements. It’s something I always check. I report many many poi nominations for a wide range of violations.
I live in a rural area. The reality is different than a city with how the community actually interacts and comes together. There is not a density of 10 “murals” every block to nominate. I put scare quotes because the wayfarer constantly shows me graffiti that I know, having lived in the cities long enough, are going to be tagged over and recovered- they are not permanent and mostly not commissioned. Criteria indicate rejection on these, yet they are more likely to pass than virtually all of the way marks near me which are simple, and unassuming.
Let’s see there’s also the barrage of mall signs. People trying to get generic displays in Tim Horton’s (generic coffee chain) passed, and many other things that based on looking for duplicates appear to have somehow reached agreement virtually everywhere.
I did a great job applying criteria. I have no idea why my rating tanked. Wayfarer has not communicated anything despite multiple attempts to contact them. It’s just an overall frustrating thing.
Clearly they don’t need my contributions. That’s the reasonable conclusion - and why i stopped.
Never. I did a handful of reviews (probably 100 or so) since then. It went excellent to poor. I think I got soft locked on something. Probably some honeypot or whatever. No idea though. My agreement rate is higher than most I see with excellent ratings so it’s likely something like that.
I see that support has responded to your request to reset Wayfarer stats. Let me reiterate what they had replied. It’s not possible to reset your Wayfarer stats.
Wayfarer rating is based on the number of agreements and disagreements. Here are a few tips to help you review more effectively and maintain your performance rating:
Follow the criteria while reviewing nominations, we recommend keeping the eligible and ineligible criteria pages open in a different browser tab for easy access.
Take your time and review each segment on its own merit. Read this article for tips on how to review each section: Niantic Wayfarer
Avoid using third party tools/plugins or depending on others to decide on how you vote on a nomination.
I will add the following but when I have stated this before I have received comments that this isn’t a thing. It worked for me and I can see no reason that it could make things worse. It may be just the time taken slows down your reviews but worth a try.
On every review switch to / from satellite view and / or use the Streetview option.
Whether it was this or it indirectly made me take more time on each review my Rating went to “Great” where it has stayed.
I have a higher agreement rate than most people with great. I really don’t like the lack of transparency here and lack of feedback. I’m not claiming to be the greatest reviewer ever- but it’s really unclear how with over a thousand agreements the rating tanks overnight and never raised back.
thanks to those of you who offered supportive messages
I assume “how ratings work” is another of those “we are not told in case it could be used to abuse the system”. The only people that could tell you, wont.
My previous post was just a suggestion on what worked for me.
I’m just frustrated because I was enjoying reviewing and was using third party browser extensions so that I could more quickly access maps and street views. I guess that’s against ToS so that’s really the only thing I can think of…but since virtually everyone I’ve ever heard of uses the same extensions I’m really at a loss.
again, I don’t have a handful of agreements I have over a thousand and roughly 50% are rejections. I’m not rubber stamping everything.
I probably reject more than most based on criteria as I understand it. Evidently, based on what stops show up in game and during review, there are a lot of people that approve everything- it’s frustrating to just get blanket advice “take your time” and “review criteria” when there is no feedback mechanism other than the blunt rating tool which, as I’m telling you, thought I was great for thousands of reviews and then poor the next day.
It’s very unlikely your rating is based on your total agreements across all time and much more likely it is based more on recent voting agreements, with some sort of weighting. Maybe some reviews have a much larger weighting for some reason, maybe older reviews are included but with less weighting.
My own experience is that a while back (over a year, probably more than that), my rating tanked to Poor. I didn’t attempt to review the same as everyone else, but just applied my own principles more diligently having read up on the current criteria etc.
Since then, my rating has stubbornly stayed at Great despite clearly being harsher than most people on this forum and reviewing quickly (in short bursts). If I see a submission I rejected that has made it into the game and still feel it shouldn’t, I don’t change my approach just to get more agreements.
I live rurally. I often get stops in very poverty stricken communities with very little infrastructure and what’s there looks shabby and lacks the signage you typically see. Or community hubs that look like trailers, or post offices in what used to be family homes.
If you didn’t know better, you’d reject on first sight. When you get to places in the northern territories of Canada you often don’t have google street views at all and satellite images are low resolution.
should these players not be able to participate?
Thanks for your comment. It is encouraging me to try again- maybe being a bit more strategic in my approach.
Admission: I also use some of the extensions. My Rejections are about 3 times the amount of Accepts. I have often hit the 100 “Skips” cap as if I can not confirm a location I skip it. Been on Great for a long time…
I often think that having the GPS Cords marked in the nomination would help either by using GPSCameraApp for the supplemental or if Wayfarer could include them in the data. Maybe they could add a “camera” pin to to map which would show that the image was taken close to the waypoint pin.
