Review and Restoration of Pokémon Spawns at UFMT – Cuiabá, Brazil

Hi, hope you’re doing well!

I’m reaching out from the Pokémon GO community in Cuiabá, Brazil. Since May 2025, all natural Pokémon spawns at UFMT (Federal University of Mato Grosso) were disabled after an update.

This happened because the university was mistakenly tagged as “School” on OpenStreetMap, which caused the spawn area to be blocked in Niantic’s system. We’ve already fixed the tag back to “University”, but the spawns haven’t returned yet.

UFMT has always been the main gathering spot for local players — we used to have over 250 people for Community Days, even doing charity events there.
Our community has tried to reach Niantic support and regional moderators several times but got no clear response.

If possible, could you please forward this case or tell me where can i get any contact to it within the Niantic team? I cant get contact through ingame support, email or any other way i tried. We’d really appreciate any help you could give us in getting the spawns reviewed and restored.

Hello and welcome,

Wayfarer has nothing to do with natural PoGo spawns; Wayfarer is for adding new POIs to the database map that may then be used as game play locations in each Scopely game. Please contact PoGo support for more assistance.

I thought we have seen staff fix issues like this before here. I would wait for staff to see this. NianticAaron is usually active on the forum in the mornings for me. I would check back tomorrow. They will close the topic if they can’t do anything.

(I couldn’t find a link to what I was thinking of, so very well may be wrong.)
