I’ve just stated reviewing submissions and I did a search and didn’t see anything directly addressing this so here goes.
I have seen several submissions that are for roadside signs/markers on busy roads that have no sidewalks. I checked Google Street view and no place for pedestrians. I’ve been skipping these submissions because I don’t feel that they are ‘safe’ but don’t want to reject something that is appropriate.
So any guidance on these types of submissions would be appreciated.
Glad you want to do a great job! If you don’t see safe pedestrian access, then you should reject. No sidewalk does not necessarily mean it is not safe for pedestrians, so you should use your best judgement on that issue.
I would be interested in seeing what kinds of roadside signs you are talking about. Traffic signs are not eligible and should be rejected. Please feel free to post a screenshot when you get one you aren’t sure about.
The latest one was a ‘sign’ for a business park - which would qualify. The area was mostly automotive repair shops, and industrial types of businesses, but it was on a highway with no sidewalks or pedestrian paths. There was a parking lot but no place to really ‘walk’ around and no place to really walk from. I will screen shot any others I come across.
They can be eligible, and I have submitted quite a few that I felt met the criteria, but not all do. This sounds questionable, even if it does have safe pedestrian access.
I agree with @wooperIooper that a sign for a business park doesn’t sound eligible to me. In my opinion, a business park is different from a shopping plaza which is the criteria clarification we have. Don’t forget the advice that this is Wayfarer, not Signfarer. Not all signs are eligible just because they exist.
