Rural Locations Help

My goal is to provide more rural waypoints, as they are not very equitable for those who live in suburban and rural areas. The first one I submitted was rejected by AI, I think I know why- I will try and resubmit it later.

2709 Drew St, Lubbock, TX 79403, USA

This is public art- and is right next to a road that is often used by cyclists and travelers- but it isn’t on public property. Is that a requirement? Its on a ‘hill’ in front of a residence, and I’ve seen many murals and other art that is on private property as stops in urban environments- is this the thing that is killing it?

Any advice on it?

I am just starting here- so I am learning and reading. But I hope to find ways to provide more to the rural communities.

Welcome to the forum!

The location doesn’t have to be what most of us think of as “public property” but Single Family Private Residential Property (SFPRP) is an ineligible location.

There is a listing of all the criteria at this page:

And a great section on clarifications here: Criteria Clarification Collection

Plus a nice guide other explorers have put together about things you could look for here: Tips for Rural Nominators

I had a look at the location on Maps, and this does appear to be SFPRP. Your location is the exact kind of circumstance I had hoped the recent street corner experiment would help, but I don’t see any of those stops placed there.

Looking around on the map, there seem to be a lot of research buildings that you may want to investigate a bit.

What happens at these buildings? Is there a reason they could meet the “exploration” category, like classes or demonstrations? Is there any artwork? Are there any social spaces, like picnic areas?

There is one that has a stop- but they are not really open to the public. They wouldn’t probably allow people on property

So this location is also a place where they meet for 4H clubs and they teach Robotics and Engineering for 4H clubs at the ‘barn’ behind the home- Would that make it qualify?

You could still have a wayspot there, as wayspots do not have to be accessible to everyone, but not everyone likes submitting things they can’t use

If it is a single family private residential property, then it is not an eligible location. No matter what kind of activities they host there.

Just to be clear, do use your own photos and not 3rd party photos.

Absolutely, I learned that as my first rookie mistake.
