Satiric topic: Why are my Portal nominations appearing in Pokémon Go and my PokéStop nominations in Ingress?

You are not asked to describe your pokestop. You are asked to describe a waypoint or „point of interest“

I have the opposite problem; I do not understand the organization of the “kitchen pantry” at all. I consider all waypoints to be equally good for all games when they meet spacing rules and do not motivate players to trespass. However, the “kitchen pantry” makes it less predictable. For example, Ingress does not like some basketball courts. Why is that? How to edit a wayspot and confirm that it is a good addition to all games?

Absolutely, this is a long standing issue that regularly causes confusion, should be an easy fix.

Just a reminder for context that @NvlblNm is trying to troll here, which is really not obvious from the post. Agree with your comment, obviously.

It’d still be helpful if they’d update the eligibility list when you’re nominating in pogo though! Just because it’s so obviously eligible to you and me doesn’t mean it will be to everyone, but if they add it to the list of explicitly eligible categories in pogo then it’s much clearer.

Why does it ask for a “Portal” description and a “PokéStop” description if I’m not supposed to be describing how it relates to the game I’m nominating for? I wouldn’t necessarily want to add something that positively exudes XM to pogo, but that seems like a great portal!

Wrong.

It’s quite simple really, I thought about organizing by theme, but decided alphabetical would be easier. Once you get that things are much easier to find.

Agreed! They just need to keep my Portal nominations and my PokéStop nominations in the right games and it’s easily solved!

I just keep getting swept away in all this immersion.

Totally understandable but maybe let’s not confuse people who are not familiar with your ways?

How else do you expect them to learn my ways?

By providing helpful context so that people don’t waste their time yelling at you?

I believe a userpic depicting a troll or a smurf would provide helpful context.

I agree with you on that. The other thing is the categories could do with a spruce up. I know you can suggest through “other” but I’m unsure how many if any of these get implemented. Would be good if wayfarer collated them and put it to poll or survey every few months for additions and subtractions.

Another feature that would be handy is change wayspot option. I came across one the other day that was entered as a statue (with a terrible picture) for whatever reason the original submitter completely left out the beautiful well it is sitting inside of. Like full encloser with beautiful stone walls and detailed. I guess they taught the statue was a sure thing (and in fairness it did pass) but it’s a shame the entire thing wasn’t submitted. I would love to be able to get it changed but I already submitted a photo showing the entire setup and it got rejected. I expected it would as it kinda didn’t match the name. I’ve tried a name edit. If that goes through then I might be more successful.

That sounds like time well spent to me!

No thanks.

Thanks! :hugs: I think the eligibility list in pogo is one of the greatest features! They should definitely expand it though!

How do I pronounce your username @NvlblNm

I’m currently saying it with a silent N but I feel they may be incorrect.

Thats a good question. My brain only uses the first 3 letters and turns that into the name Neville.

Neville Blenheim, sounds like an english gentleman.

A nickname is born.

A new association has been made in my brain.

The old one was the Harry Potter character, Neville Longbottom.

I tend to pronounce it as “Unavailable Name without the vowels”. Not everyone pronounces it that way.

I’m much more partial to the last 3.

I’ve had people add vowels to my name that don’t exist, along with random consonants, but I think this is the first time anyone has added both while coming up with something that’s reasonably close to an actual name while still keeping all the original consonants in order.

See, I understand where people come up with odd pronunciations like Nivileble Nim, inserting vowels that don’t actually exist, but you’re missing an entire lNm there!

Ah for once I was pronouncing it correctly. :joy:

Can we call you Unavailable for short?

Same haha :joy:

Not because I’m illiterate, but because my brain sees it as gibberish that’s not worth deciphering properly (this from the same mind that skips reading numerical format dates amongst words) and just rearranges it to make the most convenient sense from known names. It’s an easy association with the only Neville that comes to mind and having “lbm” in there, no matter how jumbled, helped with that leap
