Apply for Ingress Prime Portal → Reviewed by Wayfarer
Apply for Pokémon GO Spot → Review on Wayfarer
Is it divided and reviewed by Wayfarer?
Isn’t it being reviewed together?
I don’t know what a lightship is.
I know Wayfarer is game-agnostic.
But without Wayfarer’s Wayspot in the game…
Wafarer’s Wayspot has a lot of influence on the progress of the game, so I think Wayfarer’s role is the most important for users.
That’s why I was just saying this concern because Ingress Prime was not included in Scopley’s acquisition of Niantic’s gaming division.
If Wayfarer was running Ingress Prime and PokemonGO separately regarding Wayspot, that’s not a problem.
I’m a little surprised that the Wayfarer team hasn’t posted anything yet in regards to the sale, yet the PoGo and Ingress teams have. I hoipe we get some answers sooner than later, and ones that help clear up all the questions we have.
I was curious following this whether the Pikmin Bloom team and Monster Hunter Now team had posted anything.
Pretty much the same message.
Yes these messages don’t actually say anything that wasn’t in effect in the main public messages.
Not really surprised for the core games that the response would be the same. Wayfarer is just different though, since 1 game where it can be accessed was sold, but the other wasn’t now.
I just find it a little odd, as most public relations would want to have something ready for release when something major happens, yet nothing from Wayfarer yet. It could have at least helped answer some questions we have.
Maybe the Wayfarer team are forming a rebellion.
Well i just hope pogo and ingress maintain the same wayfarer relationship. Ingress is more convenient to edit because it can do it from distance. And with iitc,we can monitor portal approval. If ingress and pogo goes separate way, it may not have much difference now. But few years ahead might have many changes.
Lots of the wording in both the press releases mentions partnership, so that’s my hope also. I don’t want the Ingress map to be static, and also curious what happens to the OPR Live & Recon badges if it doesn’t stay connected to Wayfarer.
Thats unlikely, as Wayfarer and PoGo go to Scopely. Its way more likely its the other way around, meaning ingress will get a one time Lightship update and then be left at that.
Anyways, I think/speculate ingress will still be part of wayfarer, i just think niantic will pay for that access.
It is quite pointless to debate this at this time to be honest. Anyone working corporate will know that even the best interests will end up failing with factors like poorly chosen executives, lack of vision and smart goals from the C suite, lack of leadership and deviations from the managers, missing synergy and collaborative efforts across departments etc. Especially when the Niantic team is being air dropped into a foreign environment, the individual chance of surviving the new corporate politics is usually quite slim. Hence the decisions that would affect the future of Wayfarer is going to be so unpredictable; we best let the boat sail a bit first and cross our fingers.
Welcome to the forum @Dash6809
Calm down and be patient brother.
Thanks for providing such positive vibes to this thread. I can feel the love and warmth towards the discussion that was hoping to lead us to get some clarification (if possible). I mean… the positive vibes is overwhelming.
Edit: And welcome to the community.
Hello and welcome, @Dash6809 ! I actually agree with your approach - we know things will change, but not the details of every change that will be encountered by our Niantic friends as they start this new chapter. All we can do is wait, watch, and hope for the best - which I will continue to do! Although the lack of control or detailed knowledge is kinda terrifying, I do think there’s reason for optimism. Wayfarer and the games themselves are good products, and the games are quite profitable, so I hope the new company wants to preserve and enhance their new acquisitions as much as possible.
Constant change is the only permanent in this world
Sadly they aren’t well known for their clarity or speedy communication. It would be nice to have some proper information about all of this for sure, better than the inevitable speculation and assumption.
However, it’s weird, from a business and PR POV, to not have some sort of press release or announcement ready to go when a major change takes place. All of the games had press releases, even if most were just copy/paste, but nothing from Wayfarer, which could have answered some general questions, as well as allowed us to ask staff further questions.
Maybe unpredictable change is the only constant in this world?
