You are able to request removal of Wayspots that no longer exist or do not meet certain criteria, such as being at a K-12 school or an adult location. You can also edit existing Wayspots if they do meet criteria still, but may need better titles/descriptions/photos. More info can be found here:

If you do find that a Wayspot has an inaccurate photo, it’s recommended to upload a new photo, then request for the inaccurate one to be removed via help chat on the Wayfarer website. Help chat is the orange chat bubble at the bottom right of the screen; click on Help if you aren’t seeing it.

As for the Wayspots yout have gotten approved, they most likely may not be in-game due to the density rules for PoGo. More info on that can be found here:

I have this written up for when I see a wheresmypokestop question. I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. The S2 cell use has not been officially confirmed as far as I am aware, but staff has acknowledged there is an additional step after acceptance.
