Hey I nominated a stop, i got an “under review” in the contributions and couple days later it got accepted, but its been almost a week since the under review status changed to Accepted (it was even upgraded when i nominated) but i dont see any stop or gym in that area. i remember placing it in the right area of the cell as well. Any information would be really appreciated
I have this written up for when I see a wheresmypokestop question:
I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and how they are used in PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
(Eligible Wayspots are added to Pokemon Go in a sync that happens once a day normally. If it has not been more than 48 hours since it was accepted, it could just be that it has not synced in yet.)
Wayspots that are not eligible to be Pokestops or gyms still have the potential to be used as Power Spots. It appears that there is a 22m distance requirement from any Pokestop or gym for it to be used this way, and it seems there is a limit of two active Power Spots per L14 S2 cell, the same size used to determine gyms. We explorers haven’t figured out the schedule for syncing in new Power Spots, but it is not on a daily basis at this time.
If you would like to leave the title and location, someone here with access to external resources may be able to confirm if there is indeed an issue with the S2 cells. But since the sale to Scopely has affected these Niantic (now NianticSpatial) maps being updated, it may be more difficult. The gps coordinates where you pinned the Wayspot will be after the second photo in the email you received when you submitted the nomination, but the pin may have been moved in voting. Do be aware this is a public forum if you would rather not reveal your location. I realize this is a lot of information to dump on someone, so please ask if you have more questions.
If you can state the GPS Co-ords someone will take a look whether it’s in a shared cell.
Unfortunately, due to the split to Scopely the map that is used is no longer being updated from wayfarer so cant guarentee that it will help but someone will take a look.
Remember that if reviewers think that it was placed incorrectly they can move it.
Placing a nomination incorrectly for gameplay reasons is classed as Abuse.
The most accurate tool to see where your nomination ended up being accepted is the location select screen showing the duplicate map within Pokémon GO, while being close to the location
Hey the coordinated are (43.577585, -79.644479) and the title is Wayspot Submission for GrandPark Centre
I need to add this to my response!
The cell is occupied by the Wayspot “City View Park”. Your nomination can not go live in Pokémon GO
Dammit, thought it was the circle in the middle and not the yellow circle
the weird thing is that sign is no longer even there its at the other side, idk if i should request to get it changed and this spot will show up if its agreed to be moved
Ignore the circles for Pokemon Go purposes. Just the grids.
The blue circle indicates if it is eligible to become a Powerspot. This one should be if there isn’t already one there. Those don’t show on this map.
In this case that sign should be removed. Using a GPS Photo App image as evidence of its removal should help.
If the sign on the other side is eligible that that should be nominated as a new wayspot.
Oh we talked about this before, I think. That sign looks like a duplicate of this other sign.
If it isn’t there, you should definitely report it.
You can confirm that your Wayspot exists and where it is with that PoGo toggle in the nomination map screen while you are there. It doesn’t work remotely. If the Wayspot is live where you subitted it, yes, it should become a Pokestop or gym when the other Wayspot is removed.
oh ok great! How do i do that? i reported it in the pokemon go app that its no longer there and tried to edit locaiton in game but it didnt work
Did you receive rejection email for wayspot removal? You can appeal it
oh no, it got accepted as nomination but seems like the cell range for a stop that doesnt exist anymore
but the funny thing is there are two signs one on the south side and another on the north side, i nominated the actual sign on the north side and it got rejected as a duplicate
Assuming the sign is anchor for the whole park, only one sign can be eligible. The other will be duplicate
That is not always the case, as multiple entrances can be eligible.
I am confused if you are trying to relocate the sign to its correct position or to have it removed. For moves, I prefer to use help chat Niantic Wayfarer. I can send them geotagged photos to prove the actual location.
For removals, sometimes they (help chat) will do it if they think there was abuse involved, but more often I get this message:
Hello Explorer,
Thank you reaching out to us.
I see that you’re trying to report an in-game location. Since this inbox is reserved for reporting Wayfarer abuse. Please raise Invalid Wayspot request from Pokémon GO/Ingress application. Alternatively, you can reach out to our dedicated team using the either of the following links and they will be able to assist you accordingly.
Pokémon GO: Request modification or removal of a PokéStop or Gym – Pokémon GO
So I usually just use the form first now.
I have very little luck reporting a removal in game, but those can be appealed on the forum in Wayspot Appeals if you don’t mind going public.
