Spent a hard earned Upgrade for nothing

Finally got a spot approved after a wait with an upgrade to only have the spot be approved but not show up in game.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Sure seems like a waste of effort and time.

I believe that I should be refunded the upgrade for this type of situation. Would’ve never submitted the spot with an upgrade

And yes. “It’s not how it works” that does not dismiss the fact

Unfortunately Wayfarer doesn’t care if your Wayspot appears in any of the games it’s potentially eligible for.

Your nominations, if approved, go into a database that the games pull from. Each game has it’s own rules on what the do and do not pull. Your upgrade only served to accelerate your nominations addition to the database.

While I won’t go into the details here, a good place to learn about the inclusion rules of Pokémon GO can be found here:

Unfortunately, it would seem that “it doesn’t work like that” is an apt response to your issue.

Sorry.

You nomination might still appear as power spot although sync time is unknown at the moment

Hello and welcome @0nihilix

This is a frustrating situation, and reviewing for an upgrade and then not have it appear is not the outcome you would hope to happen.

If you would like to provide the details we can see if we help explain what has happened. It is unlikely to change the situation with this wayspot, but it might help better outcomes in future.

Hello and welcome,

I certainly understand the frustraction, as it most likely has happened to all of us. I used an upgrade last month for a Wayspot that I knew would not be in PoGo as a stop/gym. I still submitted it as it could end up as a Power Spot at some point, and it could get used i the other games, even though they don’t sync as often. Once Recon for Ingress is fully up and running, I will be submitting it for that game, as it doesn meet inclusion rules there.

Like others have noted, Wayfarer is creating a database map that each Niantic Scopely game can use to create game play locations. However, each game have their own density/inclusio rules, so not every approved Wayspot will appear in every game. Wayfarer is game agnostic, as it just supplies the database map; it’s up to each game to determine what becomes game play locations. Therefore, we only have control over what becomes Wayspots for the database by submitting and reviewing, not what will appear in-game.
